About La Forêt Café
La Forêt Café is an independent, family-run coffee shop at 11 King St in Leicester, with a Middle Eastern twist on its menu. Shakshuka and a Middle Eastern bowl sit on the food list, and Moroccan tea is on the drinks side for anyone who wants something other than coffee. Breakfast and lunch are both served, and the chef adds daily specials. Cakes, desserts and pastries are homemade, and fresh smoothies and fresh squeezed orange juice round out the drinks. Seating is split between a downstairs area and an upstairs area.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is the main draw, with the deluxe avocado on toast with hummus and poached eggs and the full English, including turkey bacon and sausages, named most often. Close behind are the homemade bakes, namely banana bread and pistachio chocolate cake, along with Moroccan tea, shakshuka and a Middle Eastern bowl. Reviewers describe generous portions, lovely presentation, and a warm, relaxed room with friendly staff. Slow service is the recurring complaint. One reviewer waited for a smoothie while the cafe was not busy, and another says the order took longer than expected and the fresh orange juice tasted diluted. A third describes tap water and then food arriving very late, a vegan breakfast of three small falafels and regular white bread, a refund request, and a chef who argued the food was good quality. Another finds the upstairs lacks character and tables slow to clear. Several praise the owner for checking in, and one notes the owner stopped at each table to ask how the meal was.

“Good spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. The food we ordered was tasty and well presented. The coffee was good, however the fresh squeezed orange juice tasted like it was diluted with water. The order took a bit longer than expected to arrive, but the service was friendly. Overall it was a good experience and I can recommend stopping by.”

“We have been meaning to try this place for some time and we were not disappointed. The service was very friendly and the smoothies were fresh. We tried the special avocado toast and shaksuka and they were fresh and you could tell made from scratch. The food was superb and without fault. This has got to be the best place in Leicester for brunch/breakfast, so if you’re looking for something a little different, I’d highly recommend it. The owner is very nice also and took the time to ask each table how their meal was..sign of a great independent breakfast spot and we will be back a lot for sure .”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Flawless – Our New Favorite Spot! We had brunch here last week, and we loved it so much that we came back today for another delicious meal! I absolutely loved the sandwich I ordered last time so I just had to get the exact same one again today—and it did not disappoint. Everything about La Foret Cafe is exceptional. The food is delicious and cooked to perfection. Every single plate comes out looking like a beautiful work of art. The owner is incredibly attentive, always checking in on us and making sure we have everything we need. I honestly could go on and on writing great things about this place. Another easy 10/10 for the food, the service, and the entire experience. We will definitely be back again soon! Thank you for your food!”

“Food: We ordered the classic breakfast, two of their fresh desserts, and the recommended Moroccan tea. The tea was exceptional — very soothing and full of flavour. The food was clean, fresh, and tasty overall. The cake and pastry were especially nice, to the point that we ended up taking some home with us. Service: The staff were very kind, polite, and well-mannered. They were also very accommodating when we asked to move seats, and they made sure everything was extra clean and spotless, which we really appreciated. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing. The café has a warm, comfortable feel, making it a very pleasant place to sit, enjoy tea, and have a nice breakfast or dessert.”
