About Eat Your Greens
Eat Your Greens is an organic restaurant at 42 New York St in central Leeds, next to the bus station, and it works as a grocery store in the daytime before becoming a restaurant for the evening. The kitchen cooks with organic ingredients and changes its seasonal menu frequently. Around 80% of the menu is vegan, with vegetarian options alongside. Plates are built for sharing, and panisse and farinata are among the named dishes, with pecan pie for dessert. The drinks list covers natural wines, beers, cocktails and alcohol-free choices, served from a bar area with its own bar tables. A DJ is often on site playing music.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the creative vegetable cooking, with reviewers singling out the farinata, the greens and a pecan pie that one says to leave room for. Close behind are unexpected pairings, such as panisse with Thai green curry that sounded like a car crash but turned out delicious, along with the aubergine and fennel dishes, crispy potatoes and pork chop. Others mention a steak with red onions and beetroot and the trout. Vegan and vegetarian diners note plenty to choose from, and the cocktails, natural wines and alcohol-free drinks also get mentions. Staff are described as friendly and well informed about the food. The main complaint is noise. One Saturday diner found the music painfully loud, said it felt like eating in a night club, and sat beside the bar queue where drinkers leant on their chairs, even though all six dishes were superb. Others found the DJ played at an appropriate volume. One reviewer also found the price point higher than usual. A diner on a strict low sodium diet recalls staff explaining every dish and separating out the sauces.

“We just visited for a fantastic lunch- every dish tasted great. Some really interesting flavour combos- Panisse and Thai green curry sounded like a bit of a car crash ( obviously ordered it anyway) but was absolutely delicious- some very good cooking being done out of that kitchen. Aubergine dish was excellent, fennel dish was excellent, crispy potatoes and pork chop both delicious. Friendly staff, good drinks, reasonable pricing. What's not to like?”

“Awesome food: innovative, local, organic. Great to vegan options. Really nice vibe with a DJ often on site playing at an appropriate volume which adds to the experience without being overbearing. Well worth it”

“We have visited before and following our first visit we were telling everyone to come here. That won’t be the case this time. We came for a birthday dinner celebration on a Saturday evening and ordered 6 different dishes which were all superb (the food here is lovely!). However it is ruined by the atmosphere as it felt like we were eating in a night club. The music was painfully loud so we spent most of the meal in silence and our table seemed to be next to the bar queue and bar tables so was surrounded by people drinking (some of who leant on our chairs and the people drinking on the table next to us had their shoes off). For how much the food costs it doesn’t feel fair to be eating in the bar environment (a separate food area with quieter speakers would be an easy solution to this). I It unfortunately ruined the evening and despite how much we enjoyed the food we won’t be returning.”

“Ate here today and it was a really wonderful experience. I have a medical condition which means I have to eat a strict low sodium diet. I've basically given up eating out because it's so difficult, but the staff were so accommodating and really went above and beyond explaining all the dishes and separating out the sauces. They made it feel completely effortless when I know it's a tricky one. This is the best meal I've had since I had to switch to low sodium. Absolutely delicious. I cannot rate highly enough. So impressed and grateful! Would recommend to anyone with special dietary requirements or just anyone who wants a lovely meal in a great environment.”

“We’d come to LEEDS for work, dinning all week. *EAT YOUR GREENS*. Was an amazing experience, great live DJ who was playing a fantastic playlist at a perfect volume . Sharing plates were all supreme in taste and presentation. Service was top, with well informed staff who seemed to enjoy talking about the food as much as we did.”
