  “I have been here a few times and always had a great meal with great service. Food wasn't as nice as previously and the inclusion of a 10% service charge for a party of 5 paying in excess of £120 was quite absurd. It was removed when queried, but a service charge in a restaurant. Made me question were we expected to bring the food and drinks to our tables to avoid the service charge?”

  “The food was lovely. The staff were really great. They were really good at letting us hold our table longer as it wasn't too busy. The place has a fantastic atmosphere. It was my first time trying it and I will definitely be back. We all really enjoyed our evening and I was massively surprised at how good it was.”

  “2026. Please note the restaurant has a standard for covers that requires you order at least one main this is not a small plates restaurant. However Wiffy and I recently dropped by and the floor manager said we could order 4 starters ( and we had two glasses of wine and two beers). Ive already rated 5☆'s I wish Goggle had a diamond rating for restaurants like Shanghai Oriental, the food was amazing but the 💎 was the floor manager I didn't get his name, id be greatful if the restaurant could pass on my thanks for the skills of his attention to detail. He was exemplary he scanned the diners constantly and in hospitality its rare than you only have to make eye contact to be recognised. I looked at him and the wine menu, no need to wave ,click or point within a minute we had two glasses of perfectly chilled wine. It was the same to request the bill, this restaurant obviously has great front and back house training and implementation. I have now tried collection ,.group dining and a couples dining. The cost for this couples dining was £60.10 damn thats VFM. 2025 As always, I try a collection/ delivery before I do a sit down, coz if the meal in a bag that's no fresh and it's still nice..... then it'll be better on the sit-down fresh on a plate. Really great food, great service, and it's brand new, so top end bang on trend decor. As always, it's a bit too salty and sweet a cuisine for me, but I choose the meals that shouldn't need salt/sweet , so they have just about bearable S&S for me to enjoy them. It's not the best I've eaten, but the top end for the Chinese outta toon resterants I've tried so far.”

  “My family and I had the most delicious takeaway on Christmas Eve. I need a gluten free diet and I had the most delicious sweet and sour dinner, it was absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to get another meal from here.”

  “We visited this restaurant today and ordered Chinese tea, which is served in a small teapot. We asked for two cups, but the staff refused to give us an extra cup unless we ordered a second teapot of tea. This was very disappointing. The amount of tea in one pot was more than enough for two people. We simply wanted to share it comfortably. Being denied an extra cup felt unreasonable, almost like ordering one can of cola and being told you can only have one glass, even if two people want to drink it. This policy felt unfair, inflexible, and not very welcoming. It gave us the impression that the restaurant was trying to push us to order more than we actually needed, which made us feel uncomfortable. Because of this experience, we don’t plan to return. A more customer-friendly approach would make a big difference. Food was nice.”

  “We found this place purely by chance a few months ago as we are from Ayrshire we were out a drive ended up in Larkhall and seen Shanghai dropped in and it was a gem of a place we have now returned with some friends who really enjoyed it as well so well done Shanghai Oriental you have a fantastic chef”

  “Firdt time trying here. Soon as we entered the place looked cosy staff were fast and polite seated us right away and asked if we would like drinks. They came with a small bowl of orawn crackers for free. We ordered from the set lunch menu my wife order chicken wings for starter and beef and asparagus for the main i had chicken noodle soup and katsu chicken curry. My wife loved the wings and enjoyed her main i tried the wings they were tasty and the beef from her main was soft and tasty. My chicken noodle soup was probably best chicken noodle soup i ever had and the katsu curry was tasy and chicken was nice crispy and juicy. Rice was normal fried rice nothing special in my opinion. Everything came fresh and hot!!! Also ordered a side of salt and chilli fries they were excellent one negative thoo i prefer thicker chips but tasted great.”

  “Wow this has to be one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever been to and it's so nice looking inside and out, it looks like it should be in Mayfair! The staff are really friendly and the food tasted amazing. Really enjoyed it and will definitely return next time I'm working up there 💯”
