About ASDA Cafe
ASDA Cafe is a supermarket cafe in Lancaster, set inside the Asda store on Ovangle Rd and run by Compass. It opens daily. The menu is limited and centres on breakfast, with a full breakfast of sausage, bacon, toast and tea, and sausage and bacon buns for a lighter order. Set deals for children and elderly customers give younger and older visitors a fixed option to choose from. A soup-and-tea offer rounds out the menu.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the breakfast, with the full breakfast and the sausage bap named as the draws, and several call it decent food at a good price from friendly, chilled staff. Deals for kids and elderly customers also earn praise, and one reviewer calls it family-friendly for a supermarket cafe. Close behind are the complaints, which are frequent. One reviewer found the sausage in an otherwise good breakfast lacking in taste and cheap-looking. Another describes a chicken panini with few dry scraps of chicken and an unspread blob of butter. Others report cold food with gone-off lettuce, limited stock, no gluten-free option, and no ready-made sandwiches. Three reviewers say the soup and tea offer was unavailable, with one charged more for the tea alone, and others mention missing bacon and mince pies. One reviewer describes an uncooked sausage and bacon bun arriving after a long wait, with a complaint about rude staff and hygiene. The recurring gripe is the supplier-run cafe falling short of what the supermarket promises, with the soup offer still unfulfilled on a third visit.

“We have just had 2 full breakfasts and 2 hot drinks for a total of £15. We now have two almost clean plates. Decent food, excellent price, friendly crew!”

“The food is good, especially considering it’s a supermarket cafe, and great value for money. They have good deals for both kids and elderly customers, which makes it very family-friendly. Convenient and affordable place to grab some food.”

“Disgusting food, cold and unappealing with gone off lettuce on the side. Limited menu”

“Disappointing Chicken Panini I bought a chicken panini for lunch and honestly wish I hadn’t bothered. The chicken was really cheap-tasting and there were hardly any pieces inside — just a few dry scraps scattered around. To make it worse, there was a huge blob of butter dumped in the middle that hadn’t even been spread properly, leaving half the bread dry and the other half greasy. The whole thing looked and tasted rushed, with barely any flavour or effort put in. Definitely not worth the money.”

“Third time of visiting cafe to get the soup and tea for £1. No soup on any of my visits, supplier problems,so get an alternative or cancel the offer. Tried buying a tea for £1 but as not getting soup got charged £1.20. I know you are not owned by Asda but bad publicity. They often have no bacon and had no mince pies for one offer.”
