  “Taken over in January 2026, amazing meal 23rd August 2026, staff were so attentive, one of the owners introduced himself to us which was lovely. New area built at the back with beautiful views where we had pre drinks. Bonus, plates were hot which keeps meal hot until you have finished gorgeous meal. Don't hesitate a visit is a must. Two persons starter and main with drinks £87.00 brilliant value. We will definitely be returning.”

  “Had Sunday lunch with the family today...everything was superb, from starter to dessert, wine, coffee. Service friendly, warm, genuine! One tiny comment....more gravy pls (our fault for not asking), but its needed to cover the huge yorkies! If you've not been before, try it you will not be disappointed. Lovely views, gardens etc. Looking forward to my next meal there.”

  “After visiting a long held wish to view the Triangular Lodge my wife had reserved a table at The Thornhill Arms in the village nearby. It was without doubt one of the nicest Sunday lunches we've eaten in a pub or restaurant in a very long time, seriously. Our prawn cocktails for starters were fresh and clean tasting but it would have been oh so delightful had a slice of brown bread was at hand to mop up that delicious Rose Marie sauce that had mingled with the natural juices of the salad. The roast sirloin of beef was cooked perfectly for our individual tastes, my wife requested it to be medium to well whereas I preferred mine medium and it tasted lovely. The accompanying Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and root vegetables were spot on, the beautiful creamy cauliflower cheese packed a little punch with the taste of mustard. The seasonal greens were a little too al dente for us but that's just a personal taste thing. We passed on a pudding as we were to full, the waiting staff were most obliging when we asked if our uneaten beef could be put in a doggy bag to be taken home. In summary, staff and owner brilliant (thank you for my birthday wishes), restaurant and garden (where we sat after lunch with pots of tea) lovely. Thank you very much for restoring our faith in dining out, it was most enjoyable. Bless you all.”

  “Four of us had dinner for my husbands Birthday, the food was fantastic! We started with the olives and bread then had a selection of starters, i had the cheese souffle which was delicious, the blue cheese and pear was apparently amazing too. For mains i had the steak, my husband had the pork chop. Both beautifully cooked, we all had desert and a espresso martini. What a great evening, staff were so friendly and hospitable too. We're glad to have this restaurant on our doorstep.”

  “We visited as a large group recently. The pub itself is in a beautiful location and despite being very busy, the service from the staff was genuinely good. Most of the seating was full when we arrived, which felt like a positive sign, and the atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming. The food was nice — a step above standard pub grub — though overall fairly generic rather than particularly memorable. Parking, however, is quite poor and definitely something to be aware of before visiting. My main issue was unfortunately with the owner/manager. While the young staff members were clearly working hard under pressure, I witnessed the barmaid repeatedly being spoken to sharply and pestered while she was left handling a busy bar alone and taking drink orders. Meanwhile, he appeared more focused on mingling with customers than supporting his staff. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere and was genuinely off-putting to watch. I tend to judge places on how staff are treated behind the scenes, and that sadly left a sour impression despite the efforts of the younger team members, who actually did a great job.”

  “My son and I shared a wonderful set menu lunch last Saturday. Home cooked, very well presented, delicious tasting. Good sized portions and piping hot from the kitchen. At £16 plus 10% service, this was very good value. Excellent friendly service.”

  “Visited for a Valentine's meal, absolutely loved it. So great to see the popular pub now reopened with new management, with a key focus clearly being great customer service. All of the staff were friendly and attentive, especially the manager who ensured all tables were well looked after. The food was unbelievably good. It's moving away from the old pub food / carvery menu, which is so much for the better. We both had the ox cheek which just fell apart and was so full of flavour. We will definitely be back, again and again.”
