  “We walked in here after the first pub we planned to eat at was out of many food items. They had a solid steak pie and fish and chips as well as good pints of Thatchers in a pleasant traditional pub atmosphere. Came back for another pint a few days later and had a nice experience although it was quite crowded then early evening.”

  “Party of 3 eat here today, we had two minted lamb shoulders with mash and veg and a pan fried chicken with the same. Food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious,best meal we’ve had in a long time. Lamb was melt in your mouth and huge with a nice gravy and the chicken was lovely especially the sauce, mash was very creamy and tasty and veg was fresh and tasty too. Really recommend coming for food here if you’re in Keswick.”

  “I haven't eaten here yet as we always drop in here for a pint and a chat after a session on the climbing wall in Keswick. Good beer, friendly crew behind the bar and a generally convivial atmosphere. Can get busy as food seems to be popular - certainly looks good!”

  “Pleasant dog friendly old style pub. Food is nothing spectacular but is decent and hearty after a good walk. Pleasant staff and great selection of beers. Dog friendly on the tiled flooring.”

  “We stopped in for food and ended up enjoying the place more than the meal itself. The burgers were fine, nothing extraordinary, but the pub had that proper charm, great decor and a really authentic atmosphere.”

  “From that experience I wrote the short story “Bank Tavern,” which placed 5th at the Roma International Literary Prize (3rd Edition). #roccoabazia. Thanks to Pegasus Cattolica. This pub has become my favourite place. A real step back into old England, with wooden beams on the ceiling and a cosy fireplace. Excellent food, with daily specials written on a chalkboard. Outstanding service both at the bar — the young man and woman were great — and from the waiter who brought the food to the table: polite, attentive, and always smiling. I travelled more than an hour and a half to get here, and it was absolutely worth it. A truly excellent place.”

  “Traditional pub with a good atmosphere. Busy most of the time but the staff are friendly and cope well. Roast dinner would have been improved with a few more roast potatoes rather than mashed vegetables”

  “Thank you bank tavern Lovely food. Proper hearty lovely meal. I has the lamb shoulder and best thing I’ve had for a long time anywhere. My wife the pork belly special and that was fabbo. Great service and pub atmosphere”

  “One of many pubs visited in our stay in Keswick. Visited it 3 times as we were running out of options and had a dog. Also the town centre was very busy. It's find your own table. No booking as constant stream of customers. Dogs only allowed on non-carpeted areas. Makes it awkward when people just sitting drinking on the other tables and you want to eat. Also the carpet was filthy so don't know why dogs weren't allowed everywhere. In my opinion you are either dog friendly or not. Had a burger. Was ok. Asked for well done but was not as well done as I liked. But ok. Had a salmon dish with crushed potato and veg. From the specials board and partner said it was the best meal they'd had during our two week stay Had steak and ale pie. Again full of steak pieces and reasonably tasty. Can't complain. Had a fillet steak. Asked for it to be well done. Well it came out so dry and burnt on the edges it was disgusting. A good chef can cook a steak well done without burning or drying it out. Served in a skillet floating in something. Not quite sure. Terrible for the price. Sea bass was in the specials board and partner had it and said it was beautiful. Looked really nice too. Good portion of sea bass too. Everything had to be ordered at bar including drinks and meals Service ok. No real smiles or interaction. Heard someone mention the leek and potato soup was too spicy for them and the lady with the blonde hair by the bar couldn't care less and treated the woman with complete disdain. Very unprofessional. In the warm weather week and other visits plagued by flies. Not v appealing and a real nuisance as doors were left open. Would I go back. No. But sort of one of the best of a bad bunch in Keswick town centre really.”
