Customer Review Summary

Eggs Royale with homemade hollandaise is the dish reviewers return to most, described as glossy and delicious, often alongside a chai latte or matcha chai latte that several single out. Close behind are the breakfast plates, including scrambled eggs with avocado and salmon, a butchers breakfast, and a big sausage and bacon baguette, with toasties, chips, a flat white and a hot chocolate one diner calls the best they have had. Service is repeatedly described as friendly and quick, and the rear garden gets praise as extra seating when the front looks full. The recurring trade-off is space: reviewers say the cafe is always busy, parking can be hit and miss, and the long lay-by outside fills up, though street parking is close by. One reviewer who ordered the American breakfast wished the portion were a bit bigger. Another noticed a small error in the bill, which came out higher than the items added up to. One diner closes on a cheese scone shared for pudding, which led the guest to order a second one.

“Great local cafe, friendly staff, decent garden, great food. parking can be a bit hit and miss for a space, but I guess that's what you get for being popular😀, highly recommend 👍”

“With a u3a meeting to attend at the nearby Kesgrave Community Hall, I sought out Trip Advisor's help to find somewhere for lunch. Set on a busy road, from the front the Kitchen doesn't look especially appealing - or very big. But inside, it's like Doctor Who's Tardis, with loads of tables and a splendid garden with lots more outside space - and loads of picnic tables. Everything looked really well thought out and modern. The menu is not all that extensive and tends to concentrate on various breakfast-themed items or toasted sandwiches. My guest opted for scrambled eggs with avocado and salmon with granary bread (£11.50) and I had the 'Eggs Royale' - poached eggs and salmon with a home-made Hollandaise sauce. (£9.80). A Chai Latte on top (£3.80) brought the bill to £27 although when I counted it up just now, it should have been £25! Anyway, apart from that slight quibble over how much I paid, it was truly excellent. Everything was beautifully cooked and prepared, the Hollandaise sauce was glossy perfection. My chai latte was so nice, my guest decided when we decided to share a lovely cheese scone for pudding, to have one for herself. Next time I will have a go at one of the lovely cakes on display! Also worth noting was the very friendly service and the sparklingly clean toilets - to my mind, something that shows attention to detail and the sign of a well-run establishment. Sitting in the garden having lunch listening to the chattering of the birds was simply delightful. It was no surprise that the long lay-by outside the Kesgrave Kitchen was full and there was hardly a table to be had. A splendid choice!”
