About Royal George
Royal George is a pub on Colchester Rd in Ipswich, open daily, where steaks and burgers are cooked on a flame grill. Sizzler meals arrive on sizzler plates, with mixed grill and chicken among the options, and gammon is served with chips, egg and tomato. Breakfast is on the menu too. Football plays on the screens, and a pool table is available for anyone who wants a game. Every Monday the pub runs a quiz night with mini prizes and music bingo rounds, which gives the start of the week an organised event. Bookings are taken for larger groups.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the food, with the gammon and the chick 'N' mix named as tasty, and the burgers described by one family as really good. Gammon with chips, egg and tomato arrived quickly and hot, and one reviewer mentions a buy one get one free offer on many dishes. The Monday quiz with music bingo rounds is a favourite for one regular, and the football on screen gets a mention for the good vibe. Staff draw mostly warm comments, with several describing them as friendly, one waitress praised for handling a tomato allergy without cross contamination, and another reviewer saying a last minute booking for nine worked out. Complaints are mixed in. One reviewer says portions have shrunk, another says staff react to ingredient changes with a sigh and a groan, and one notes that dogs are not allowed in the restaurant area despite the website saying dog friendly. The sharpest criticism describes sizzler meals arriving on cold plates, the meat sent back as cold twice, and the table waiting while sizzler plates were washed, before the third serving was much better and the coffee was not charged.

“Just gets better ,shown to take immediately. Currently buy one get one free on many dishes. We opted for gammon, arrived very quickly and was hot so tender and cooked to perfection. Was asked twice by two members of staff if all was ok ,nice touch. 2 gammon, with chips egg ,and tomato £12.50 . Might go again soon .”

“Went for dinner with family , managed to get a relatively last minute booking for 9 of us. Food was decent, staff were nice. Only thing I would say to watch for is that although the website says dog friendly, dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant bit.”

“Nice Pub with a good vibe especially with the football being shown. The only slight negative is the food portions have shrunk to keep the prices increasing, Shrinkflation i think they call it. but will still visit”
