Customer Review Summary
Well-presented food at birthday and anniversary meals is what reviewers raise most, and the raspberry sorbet is named twice, once beside a burnt cream dessert and once after the smoked mackerel pâté. Close behind are the starters, including a fishcake starter, a mushroom ciabatta and shared artisan bread with olives. Mains singled out include pan fried halibut with mussels and a pancetta crumb, a steak and ale pie with chive mash, and a rib-eye. Several describe the conservatory as bright, airy and spacious, with tables that don't feel crowded. The main caveat is that only a set menu and a specials board were on one group's table, so they had to ask for the a la carte menu. One reviewer also found it a little pricey, though others call the set menu great value. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and one party was accommodated when a booking for four grew to six at the last minute.

“Lovely lunch at The Windmill today, very accommodating after booking for 4 people and increased to 6 people last minute as we went for my son’s birthday celebration. Very friendly atmosphere and felt very welcome from Ella H the minute we walked in. Sat in the conservatory which is bright and airy. Lovely food and service from Karen and Sophie. We did not wait long at all for our food. Thank you for a lovely lunch experience, we can’t wait to visit again soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Well presented food and a menu with good choices not just the simple and straightforward normal!”

“A stunning meal tonight. Pan fried halibut with mussels and a pancetta crumb with crushed potato and creamed leeks. Honestly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I didn't want this dish to end, it was just stunning. Dessert was burnt cream with a raspberry sorbet and a rosemary shortbread biscuit. Well done to the chef for producing a fabulous meal. The Windmill is well worth a visit.”

“We dropped in on our first visit on a hot evening. We were quickly made to feel welcome and made up a light meal to share out of the starters and side dishes. The food was so prettily presented and delicious. Particularly recommend the smoked mackerel pâté and the raspberry sorbet.”
