About Hickory's Smokehouse Huddersfield
Hickory's Smokehouse Huddersfield is a smokehouse restaurant on Bradley Rd in Huddersfield, open daily. Children get a little cinema with popcorn, a milkshake masterclass for them and a mocktail masterclass behind the bar, and each table receives free popcorn and bottled water. The kitchen cooks its barbecue low and slow, with a 16-hour smoked brisket among the meats, and sharing platters for two include the cattlemans platter. Cajun chicken fajitas and rump steak round out the grill side. A brunch menu comes with coffee, and the bar serves cocktails and cold beer. Group bookings are taken for parties who want to sit together. Seating includes the Barn, with tables upstairs.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers return most for the brisket and pork belly, with one diner calling both "to die for" and others praising the half rack of ribs and cajun chicken fajitas. Close behind is the service, with staff accommodating a last-minute group booking, swapping a table for elderly parents, and helping one diner through a seizure. Families mention a milkshake masterclass for children and a small cinema with popcorn. The main caveats are mixed. One reviewer found the brisket a bit tough and the pulled pork full of gristle on a sharing platter, though the sausage was the star. Another thought the rump steak looked lost on a large plate, and a repeat visitor found portions smaller and quality down. Several describe it as loud, with children running into chairs, and one finds steak platters pricey. One reviewer says the server needed to smile more. A birthday diner was invited behind the bar for a complimentary mocktail masterclass.

“Today my family and I visited Hickory’s to celebrate my grandson Noah’s 4th birthday. It was his and my granddaughter’s first time here, and honestly we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Noah did the milkshake masterclass with Craig, and he was ever so shy to begin with. But Craig was so lovely with him — made him feel so welcome and at ease. By the end Noah had come right out of his shell and was so proud of what he’d made! He called it his ‘Marshmallow Madness’ — marshmallow syrup, a big fluffy marshmallow, squirty cream and pink sprinkles 🥹 My granddaughter Willow, who’s 6, got a little bit jealous seeing his milkshake, so Craig was kind enough to do a milkshake masterclass for her too — such a thoughtful thing to do, it really made her day! We were seated in the Barn and Libby was our server — she was fantastic! Chatty and friendly, talking to the little ones, giving us options and nothing was too much trouble. We came especially for the £10 burger deal we saw on Facebook, which was great value too. Also you get free popcorn and bottled water for each table. It just meant the world to be able to treat the kids to such a lovely day. Everyone was so good with them. We’re all coming back next Sunday for my birthday meal, so we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone again!”

“First time here and the service was brilliant .The food was ok . We had the sharing platter . The star was the sausage. Brisket was a bit tough and the pulled pork was full of gristle . Good idea to give you take away boxes as the portion was huge. Would go agsin but just have one item as the flavours over power each other.”

“Food was absolutely beautiful as usual. Never had a bad meal from these guys. Our server was amazing. I'm epileptic and sadly had a seizure, and her and the team were amazing (so thank you!) Only thing I'd note is that it can be quite a loud place, especially with kids! But over than that, beautiful as usual.”

“I've been to Hickory's few times and their food is usually good, this time the portion size seemed smaller and the food quality wasn't as good as before. It was a last minute booking for a group 15 people which they were kind and accommodated us, their service and staff are always good despite hot weather. If you like American type of food and if you are a meet lovers, this place is yours. It's reasonably priced and you'll get good value for your money. Their selection of drinks are good, nice cold beer 🍺 and cocktails.”
