Customer Review Summary

Sunday roast is what most reviewers come for, with the Meat Feast roast praised for a bigger-than-expected portion and vegetables served on the plate under gravy rather than dried out on a side plate. Beef and chicken roasts are described as high quality and served quickly, while a rump steak, bass on risotto, ragù alla bolognese, olives and baby squid also earn praise. Close behind, the sticky toffee pudding and a dessert menu that exceeded expectation get singled out. Several say the food has improved under new owners, and staff are called friendly and accommodating, including taking a walk-in party of eight with four children and swapping a drink containing lime for a guest with an allergy at no cost. The main complaint is value on one dish: a reviewer describes two ploughman's lunches with two packet cheese slices, small slices of sourdough and minimal salad as the meanest they had eaten. One visitor suggests quieter times to avoid slow service. Reviewers also mention an open fire, beamed ceilings and a large garden.

“Food has really stepped up a level in the last few months. We generally go on Sundays but was a good roast and much needed. Service was brilliant really accommodating for a walk in of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids). Will definitely go back again soon and rank in too 3 roasts in Horsham area.”

“I paid £15.99 each for 2 Ploughman's £30.98. Absolutely terrible value for money. 2 slices of cheese from a packet, 2 small slices of Sourdough bread, minimal salad and not the best ham for the price. Although fairly tasty, it was the meanest Ploughmans I have ever had. Where was the big chunk of cheese ? Proper chunks of bread, pickles, pickled onions ? Don’t waste your money.”

“Booked here for Sunday lunch. Food was excellent. Wheelchair accessible as one of our party needed. Will definitely return. Staff so helpful.”

“We had a family Sunday lunch here and we were pleasantly surprised as initially we were reluctant to go because of the low google rating. However, we discovered that the place has new owners and they are real professionals. The quality of the roast, (we had beef and chicken) was really high, nicely presented and served very quickly. All the staff were really welcoming and we had a great time. The olives and the baby squid were exceptional.”

“Just dined here for a birthday and I would like for the chef to know how good this ragù alla bolognese was. I’m Italian, had ragù from Bologna my whole life and this was pretty spot on. I could see the celery, onion and carrot mixture, as well as the vegetable broth that has been added gradually. Almost identical to the OG one except that the Bologna version has 3/4 minced beef and 1/4 pancetta chopped really finely. If you ever decide to add it, the taste would be exactly the same. Regardless, it was stunning!”
