  “Not worth for money. 4 small pieces of crab fried for 9.80£. And egg rice mimicked as Special fried rice with 3 pieces of prawn and small pieces of chicken. Even after I told them to make it spicy adding chilli oil, they didn't, so fully bland and not even with salt. Same with lamb Mongolian style, 4 sticks for £9.80.”

  “I had high expectations as this place used to be good years ago but it was so disappointing. I would have had better quality food if I had bought it from Iceland. Started all very dry like they had been reheated numerous times. Shredded duck was unrecognisable as duck, more like the burnt scrapings from the pan. The rice was so over cooked like mush and anything in sauce had a chemical taste. Our bill was £113 for three which included two half cokes and two beers. Think of all the takeaway we could have had for that money from our local Chinese delivery. How this place gets good reviews I will never know.”

  “I have been coming here for about 30 years now, this is my go to Chinese when I go out for a Chinese sit down meal and travel 30 minutes from home to get here becuase it’s always amazingly good food, the staff are very friendly and it has a nice atmosphere when busy which it usually is which is also a good sign it’s a good place to go. It’s always recommended to book a table for evening bookings even midweek due to how popular it is and the fact that it’s not a large venue. They offer a very fair all you can eat menu which is currently £26.90 per person where you get those choice of a large number of different dishes split into 3 different courses.”

  “​I had the best restaurant experience I've had in ages at Regents Cottage! The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and so knowledgeable about gluten allergies, which made for a completely relaxing and enjoyable meal. ​The food was absolutely amazing with very generous portions. I can't recommend this place enough – it's a must-visit for anyone needing gluten-free options, and a top-notch choice for everyone else. We will definitely be back!”

  “First, the waitress offered to “order for us” and make it an omakase style. That’s not what I wanted. Although I was given the option to order more when they served all the things they picked, I couldn’t order all that I wanted to eat because I didn’t want to delay everyone else. I came here for a buffet but I wasn’t given the chance to order what I liked. With that said, the majority of the dishes aren’t worth trying anyway. The fried rice is good. The shredded cucumbers and spring onions is also good. Everything else? Not so much. The chicken in the first dish (deep fried chicken?) was stinky! I really wanted to spit it out but I couldn’t do that on a table. Very disgusting. And later I had two dishes where the meat carried a dishwashing liquid flavour. The pancake in the duck dish tastes dry and powdery. I wonder how it became like that. The duck and the sauce were quite different from the classic Peking duck. And the classic is called classic for a good reason. The wontons had very thick skins and the soup was very salty. I would advise the chef to just buy some frozen ones and boil them in plain water instead of making bad wontons. It is very sad when you have so many things on the menu but in the end I had to fill my stomach with fried rice. Well, at least the fried rice was good.”

  “Absolutely brilliant food and portion sizes. Best chinese take away - would definitely recommend. Must taste even better in the restaurant. Friendly staff! Can't wait to go after lock down. Lovely Chinese New year meal.”
