Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the bog pie, praising its tender beef and suet pastry, with one calling it the best pie they have had in the UK. The lamb shank comes close behind, described as falling apart and cooked perfectly with plenty of gravy. Others single out the soup, potato skins, duck pate, belly pork with black pudding and mash, scampi, and a sticky toffee pudding, plus puddings with unusual ice cream flavours. Coeliac diners repeatedly note the many gluten-free options. Reviewers also mention the countryside views, a real fire, a games room with a pool table, welcome for dogs, and the three resident dogs, along with friendly service from the owners and staff. The one criticism comes from a diner who found the menu a bit limited, with not much choice, though they judged what is offered to be prepared very well. One group stayed on for a second meal the next day, a Sunday dinner of lamb shank.

“Authentic local village pub run by a very delightful husband and wife. Cute place with charm and charachter. The food was fresh, full of flavors and plentiful! Enjoyed the dinner, the house specialty, bog pie, along with local steamed veggies. Great spot to grab a bite, a pint and visit some sheep after!”

“Attractive and well-preserved old pub, great atmosphere considering how remote it is. Three lovely dogs live here so great to meet them.”

“We are staying not far from this inn...thought we would have a pub grub lunch....food was better than a lot of restaurants we been to...the wife had scampi and I had the bog pie...we didnt want it to end. If we could give more than 10/10 we definitely would. Well worth a visit.”
