Webbe's Rock-a-Nore is a seafood restaurant in Hastings, at 1 Rock-a-Nore Rd, with a menu built around locally caught fish and seafood. The seafood platter brings oysters, cold-water prawns, crab and winkles, and it comes with cutlery for extracting the meat, so diners can work through the shellfish at the table. Customer Review Summary

Fresh seafood is the draw, and the seafood platter leads, with oysters, small cold-water prawns, winkles and crab singled out. Close behind are the mussels and the half lobster, served with chips or linguine, which diners call perfectly cooked and firm. Lemon sole, plaice with sautéed banana, and desserts such as the crumble with custard and the Chocolate Delice also earn praise, along with friendly staff. The recurring complaint is grit, with two reviewers finding sand in the shells. One felt the monkfish main held only three small pieces among plentiful vegetables. A vegetarian found a single vegetarian main and described the female toilets as tight and not particularly clean. Another sat at the sidewalk edge with foot traffic and flies. One suggests booking ahead because it gets busy. One table finished the whole pot of creamy fish stew.

“Took my partner here for his birthday and we absolutely loved it. Food was delicious and the service was fantastic.”

“Chris enjoyed his seafood panache but I can't recommend this for vegetarian's. I had the vegetarian Mediterranean tart as it was the ONLY vegetarian main meal on the menu. It was ok. I cannot eat onions, I hate courgette and aubergine and the pastry was just ok. There was nothing wrong with the tart, I just don't like anything that was in it. I would normally be able to find several sides to make a meal but apart from mash potato or chips, I was left with a side salad. Even bread and cheese would have made me happy... The other gribe concerns the female toilets. Even Kate Moss at her thinnest would have trouble getting into and out of the loos. They were not particularly clean and they could do with a new lick of paint. ONLY go if you love seafood, leave vegetarian's at home and cross your legs and use the toilet across the road.”

“4 of us had lunch today. We absolutely loved it. Nice surroundings, staff were very friendly and helpful. Richard was fantastic, so professional - a real asset to the place! Food amazing, if you fancy mussels, they were delicious! And, if you like desserts, ditto. All round, a very enjoyable experience, would definitely recommend, and the prices are good as well, considering the quality. Will certainly come back”

“Lovely place, exceptional fresh seafood, small plates’ a must try (value for money) and the staff are attentive and lovely. Prices are great compared to other seafood restaurants in the area.”

“The seafood was super fresh—the mussels, lemon sole fish, and seafood pasta were all delicious. The only downside was the seating. Our table was at the very edge of the outdoor area, right on top of the sidewalk. Having foot traffic walking right past our plates wasn't great. Also, the table was very small; I actually ended up spilling most of my wine while trying to swat away flies.”
