Customer Review Summary

Diners most often return for the tandoori mixed grill and the chicken tikka masala, with the mixed grill arriving sizzling and one son calling the tikka masala the best he had tried. Close behind are puffy, well cooked naan breads, a keema naan with generous filling, the grand grill starter, and spicier choices such as the Soft Lamb Naga and Aloo Gosht. The red sauce served with popadoms is described as bordering on addictive. Reviewers describe friendly staff who explain the menu even when the small room is packed, and one mentions the tight stairs up to it. The restaurant serves no alcohol, so several note that guests bring their own, with no corkage fee. One longtime customer reports that recent food was too oily with tons of garlic, and that a delivery arrived with squashed dishes and crushed popadoms. On banquet night, one reviewer says the staff let them take home the leftovers for breakfast.

“I have been coming to this restaurant since i was 3 years old now 36! and this has always been the most consistent and high quality Indian cuisine throughout Harlow. I have tried every Indian throughout Harlow and the surrounding area, and this is always my go to. The food has always been of the highest quality. We always start with the grand grill starter which offers the most amazing flavours. I have also recently started trying new dishes after having chicken tikka masala Madras hot for many years and have found some of the most amazing dishes. (masala Madras hot) If you decide you would like a bit more spice, this is a perfect dish for that blend of sweetness and spice. However, if you are feeling brave, the Soft Lamb Naga is hands down the best dish i have had. it was a gorgeous thick sauce which worked perfectly with the veg and meat samosa's, side of chips (i know) and with a unique spice which was hot but full of flavour (slightly less spicy than a vindaloo, but maintains a wonderful taste). I can also highly recommend the Aloo Gosht which was probably one of the most flavoursome dishes I have ever had. it was a unique blend of spices which tasted completely different from the usual masala, madras, balti etc. the portions are always very generous and if you do like a keema naan, you will often have a high level of keema. there have been other places i have tried and its barely more than a plain naan, but you will not have that here. The staff have always been very friendly and happy to give any advice over the menu and great for a good chat. While the restaurant is fairly small and can feel over crowded at times (this is also a good sign as it is almost always busy) and the stairs can feel a bit tight leading up to the restaurant. The food and company are always well worth the effort. We have also recently had numerous dry/ dryer dishes which have always been wonderful from the mixed grill, Assam Special, Lamb Shashlik which are perfect if you are either looking at high protein or calorie counting diet but needing to satisfy your taste needs to keep you motivated.”

“We have eaten at this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed the experience. The staff are polite, friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and there is an extensive menu. If you haven’t been here before you should note that they only serve soft drinks (you cannot take your own in), so if you wish to have alcohol you need to bring your own. There is an off- licence nearby. Would thoroughly recommend.”
