Customer Review Summary
King prawn dishes and chow mein anchor the praise. Reviewers describe king prawn chow mein, king prawn chop suey, chicken chow mein and egg fried rice as tasty and generously portioned, with fresh prawns and vegetables. Close behind, fried rice, prawn crackers and chips draw compliments, and a few mention polite staff and a friendly owner. The criticism is substantial and centers on temperature and quality. One diner says an early-order special curry had clearly been prepared ahead, microwaved and left congealed. Others report a Cantonese duck that was cold and tasteless, with tough meat and a lot of shredded carrot, soggy crispy garlic beef, chicken satay with a chemical taste, and curry prawns that were raw or chewy. Chicken balls were called stringy and the seaweed not crunchy enough. One reviewer was put off by what they found on cutting open the chicken in a chicken curry. Cold food comes up repeatedly, and one reviewer had to microwave the order to finish cooking it.

“What a disappointment this time. Decided to get there early to avoid the rush, bad move ! The special curry had been prepared earlier in its plastic tray and microwaved causing the curry to gongealed. It was obvious that this was prepared earlier to offset the rush. Disgraceful and zero rating for this behaviour. I have had plenty of curries from here in the past and will not revisit after this service. Avoid any early order, let the rush pass for obvious reasons. I had to microwave my order to ensure it was cooked , not a good advertisement for Hong Kong City. Get your act together sharpish or more customers will leave.”

“Lovely local Chinese, always popular, always tasty and always brilliant customer service! Great portion size for a good price, been a few times now and never disappointed! Photo is of 2 mains and a side dish, split for 2 people.”

“If anybody wants a good piece of advice please do not heat Chinese from this restaurant because it is absolutely rotten. I spent £45 and I would’ve been better throwing a full lot straight in the bin.”

“This is our usual chinese and love it but we ordered a chinese chicken curry today for a change and cut the chicken open to this… I didn’t want to leave a google review but couldn’t find an email address to email.”

“King Prawn Chow Mein - very tasty and good portion size. Prawns are fresh and without outdoor. Foil containers! Waiting time (Sat) around 20min for takeaway at the door. However, I understand weekend busy. Food satisfactory! Food hygiene 5 star. Keep up like this and you will always be busy! Thank you”
