  “We had carvery (Sunday 26/07/26). We have been coming to the Honourable Pilot for carvery for the last five months. George was the carvery chef on duty again today and Kim was our waitress. George always asks how you are are and how your week has been, nice touch. Kim is just fantastic. Really down to earth, always smiling and enjoying a laugh at the appropriate time observed with all her customers. She also looks at value for money for the customers while discretely upselling. What a shame the Honourable Pilot Cookhouse & Pub will be closing early September 2026. Most of the staff seem very pleasant and happy to help you despite the over hanging forthcoming closure - a very hard thing to do, I have been there twice myself! THANK YOU TO THE STAFF!”

  “I visited today with my 3 young nephews, the food and experience was great, they also played in the children’s play area. We were served by Kim, who was lovely and took extra care with the children’s order, because we made some changes to the order due to special needs. Kim made it a lovely afternoon”

  “Visited last Sunday having not been for a couple of years as it had got so bad. As soon as we walked in the atmosphere was different. Staff were polite and cheerful. Very helpful when we asked to change the area of our table. Sunday roast was well cooked with plenty of variety. A special mention of George who carved our roast and was busy checking on everything. He was cheerful and chatty and made us very welcome. What an asset for a restaurant to have. Will definitely return”

  “The food here is absolutely beautiful for the price, I had fish and chips upgrade to haddock and it was cooked perfectly 👌 followed by the brownie 😋. Both were lovely ill definitely be coming back”

  “My high hopes for this restaurant next to the Premier inn were dashed very quickly. We had booked a table for 2 for 1830 & the restaurant was fairly empty. Why the waiter sat us on a table for 4 next to a birthday party group of 12 was beyond me!!!! There were tables available by the window. Waiter was flustered & made us feel uncomfortable as we asked what was available from the meal deal. He reeled off a list & went to get our drinks. We chose our food & listened to the lively conversations from the 12 next to us. After 25 minutes or so our food arrived. My wife had the Cottage pie & I was presented with a burger I didn't order. I had in fact ordered the spicy Korean chicken pizza. This took another 25 minutes to arrive. Server was very apologetic. No tip on this occasion!!!! The following morning we had the buffet breakfast that was incredibly popular with families. There was a permanent queue at the tea station so we gave it a miss & had orange juice instead. Food was ok. Buffet area was a free for all & was very loud. I felt a bit overdressed as I don't own an Adidas tracksuit, hoody or a pair of crocs. Each to their own but not for me.”

  “Great service on two nights food was hot and cooked well. Missed an egg of my mixed grill 😆 but to be fair I didn't need it. Staff are super friendly and cheerful and coped exceptionally well when busy on both nights.”

  “What a smashing bar/restaurant I was visiting the area on business and was staying at the premier inn hotel next door. The evening meal was delicious the menu is simple and could do with an update with healthier swap options and more pasta or more filling options for jacket potatoes. The breakfast was by far one of the best.”

  “We visited for the Sunday carvery. The food selection was good, staff very friendly, pricing was reasonable, service was slightly slow but it was busy. Blue light card discount accepted which is always appreciated. Carvery plates were quite small, and was not a lot of room to have a lot of different items on the plate at once. Overall an enjoyable meal and experience.”
