About wagamama - gatwick south
Wagamama in Gatwick South's international departure lounge is a Japanese-inspired restaurant for travellers eating before a flight. Long communal benches fill the room, and a braille menu is available for guests who read braille. Breakfast is served, and the menu includes noodles and ramen, among them the chilli chicken ramen. Cherry blossom lemonade is on the drinks list. Guests give their table number when ordering and pay by scanning a barcode at the table. A wait at the door can form during busy periods.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the staff, with the servers described as friendly and welcoming, and several credit them with good recommendations, including the cherry blossom lemonade and a breakfast that one visitor did not know was offered. The food is called delicious, with generous portions, and one reviewer praises the chilli chicken ramen. Another finds the food acceptable but not exceptional, while a diner who liked the variety of noodles and ramen also notes the staff seemed a bit stressed. Service draws the sharpest split. One reviewer describes a short lunch break that ended with no food after a long wait, a table number entered incorrectly so the payment barcode would not scan, and a waitress who left without returning. Another reports orders getting messed up and food served rudely, with no smile. Against that, others describe quick, efficient service before a flight, and one says a server patiently helped a group try to pay with Alipay after their bank card was stolen, even offering to treat them.

“Such a lovely start to our holiday! I’d never had Wagamama for breakfast before and genuinely didn’t even know they did breakfast haha, but the food was so good. I think our server was called Nyelah and she was absolutely lovely. Really friendly and welcoming, and her recommendations were spot on. All the staff seemed lovely, great food and overall such a nice experience before our flight. Definitely recommend if you’re here!”

“★☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience I had a horrendous experience at Wagamama in Gatwick South Terminal. I entered the restaurant at around 2:05 pm during my 45-minute break. I was already short on time, but I decided to eat there because I had visited several times before and, on previous occasions, my food had arrived within about 10 minutes. A waiter came and took my order around 10–15 minutes after I arrived. Shortly afterwards, another member of staff came to my table and recorded my name/table number. I also spoke to another waitress and asked how long my food would take because I had very limited time. I was told it would be another 10–15 minutes. By around 2:30 pm, I still had not received my food. I explained to the waitress who had taken my order that I needed the food as quickly as possible. I was even willing to have it packed so I could take it with me and eat it later, as I simply could not afford to wait any longer. Things became even more frustrating when I tried to pay. My table number had been entered incorrectly as 121, and when I scanned the barcode to pay, the system said that the table did not exist. I asked the waitress for help. She then disappeared, and I waited for another five minutes with nobody coming to assist me. At that point, I had no choice but to leave the restaurant without eating. I understand that airports can be busy, but this was extremely poor service from start to finish. The staff knew I was on a short break, I repeatedly asked about the waiting time, and despite this, I received neither my food nor proper assistance when there was a problem with the payment system. I have visited Wagamama at Gatwick several times before, but after this experience, I would seriously reconsider returning. A restaurant in an airport needs to understand that many customers are working with very limited time. This experience was completely unacceptable and very disappointing.”

“Had the chilli chicken ramen; all good. But definitely leaving a 1-star for service. I don’t know how people with that attitude are working in customer service. Not even a smile, orders getting messed up, food being served rudely… I could go on, but that’s more than enough.”

“First time in wagamama and not bad! I'd seen this chain in other places in London, and it always caught my eye. I finally got to try it and was pleasantly surprised. They have a varied menu with many healthy options, the ambiance is tasteful, and the service is excellent, although the staff seemed a bit stressed.”
