Customer Review Summary
Friendly, welcoming staff come up in most reviews, and diners pair that with fresh, generous food. The lemon chicken, two breasts in a lemon sauce, draws the strongest praise, and one reviewer insists others order it. Close behind are BBQ ribs that fell off the bone, crispy aromatic lamb, and noodles preferred over the egg fried rice. Takeaway customers mention aromatic duck, spring rolls and Cha-Siu, with orders ready on arrival and still hot after a drive home. The set meals are called good value. Criticism centres on the Sunday buffet, where a customer of many years found cold starters and nearly empty trays, and was told more food would not be cooked until more people arrived. One takeaway order arrived unseasoned with watery chicken, and another reviewer felt the crispy shredded beef needed a little longer in the wok. The buffet complaint ended at the till, where the manager said to tell staff if anything is cold and offered no apology.

“I travelled from Sheffield to reach the palace. I had heard stories of this restaurant from afar, and this weekend I had the opportunity to travel to experience the true meaning of luxury. The main dish I was recommended was the lemon chicken (see individual dish reviews below), which was cooked differently to any Chinese I’ve had previously. Delamere fortune palace really makes you feel like royalty. You walk in the door and feel like a king (or queen). Although slightly pricey (I was aware before I went in), it still feels like exceptional value for money. The only warnings I received before I went was to avoid the Sunday buffet, and prawn crackers not to be included. Now I can’t comment first hand on the buffet, the prawn crackers were handed over on the house from Michael, which made my night. Truly exceptional service. Now for the dish reviews… Prawn crackers - included in the meal. exactly what you’d expect. Crispy, enjoyable, plenty available too. Crispy aromatic lamb - not a usual item on a Chinese menu (normally duck). I was stunned at how good the meat was. They weren’t stingy on the portion and it tasted so similar to the duck (was really good with the prawn quackers haha!) 9/10 BBQ ribs - This was another of my friends stable items. He reccomended I drizzle the honey over the meat. It was so tender, quite literally fell off the bone. I even tried to pick up one of the ribs and the bone literally fell out. Unbelievable. 10/10 Salt and pepper chicken wings - not my go to normally on a Chinese but a welcome change. The portion was generous, tender meat and plenty of seasoning. I would have perhaps liked a bit more veg in there too as that makes the takeaway a bit more healthy. 7.8/10 Crispy shredded beef - this is my normal Chinese go to. I have to say this one was slightly different to normal. The sauce had a sweeter taste to what I was used to, and the beef maybe required slight longer in the wok, but it’s undeniable that the quality of meat being used is excellent. 8.2/10 Egg fried rice - the rice and noodles I like to describe as the foundations of the Chinese. They won’t blow you away, but no house can be built without foundations. Still very enjoyable. 8/10 Noodles - I preferred these to the rice. It felt like they got the love and care which normal chow mein without the premium price. Really set up the meal to be excellent. 9.3/10 Lemon chicken - Now… where do I start. I was promised the world and received the universe. Like nothing I’ve ever eaten before. They give you 2 chicken breasts submerged in a lemon sauce I would quite happily bath in. If you come here, GET THIS DISH!!! 12.4/10 Overall thoughts: My overall thoughts are conclusive. This was worth every mile of the journey and every penny of the final bill (£61). I would highly recommend a visit, and will certainly be coming back. If I was going to suggest an improvement, it would be frying the beef in the crispy chilli beef for an extra 20-30 seconds, but that’s me being really picky. I’d like to thank Michael for the service he showed me and my friend, and will certainly be back!”

“Ordered Take-Away Aromatic Duck, Spring Rolls, Sweet and Sour Mix and Cha-Siu + Rice. The gentleman who took the order was very well spoken, the order was waiting when we arrived. The food was absolutely spot on - all elements. Will definitely be back!”
