Customer Review Summary
The complaints are mostly practical. Seating is outside on a main road, and a few say there is little room to sit, with one taking the food home in the rain. One reviewer waited 15 minutes in a busy shop, another found the portions slightly small, and one called the chips, scampi and sausage just average. Several suggest walking two minutes to eat on the banks of Loch Ness.

“Very tasty, fresh fish and chips. There's a sign outside that describes from which boat they received the fish that morning. No wonder it's so good. Do make sure to order some curry sauce along as it's fantastic together!”

“Best fish and chips we have had. Well worth a try when in Fort Augustus. Right next to the town car park. Highly recommended 👌”

“Monster fish and chips proudly displays a banner for its Best Newcomer Award 2026 and I think it is really well-deserved. The batter is brilliantly light, thin and crispy and the chips are really tasty too. The staff were lovely and the service was pretty speedy (you get a device which vibrates when your meal is ready so you know when to go back to the counter). The only downside is that the eating area (outside) is on a main road and whilst Fort Augustus is beautiful, it's not ideal. However, if you take a 2min walk you can sit and eat on the banks of Loch Ness which is stunning.”

“Busy area with lots of visitors, yet this place takes the time to ensure the food they serve is of the highest quality. We had battered haddock, chips and tartare sauce - delicious! They young lady serving us was friendly too.”

“It was our last day in Fort Augustus so we thought we'd treat ourselves to a chippy 🍟. Off we went to Monster Fish & Chips and after a short wait due to them cooking to order we sat outside in the late sun and got tucked into a delicious light crispy battered 🐟 chips 🍟 & a pot of curry 🍛 sauce, we also had the breaded scampi 🦐🦐 and chips 🍟 and complimented with a can of cold 🥶 Bellhaven Best & a can of Tennants Larger. All in all awesome. Staff very welcoming, friendly and polite even as they were very busy.”
