About Sailbox

Sailbox is a brunch restaurant in Folkestone that orders at the bar after taking a seat, serving breakfast through the afternoon with the full brunch menu. The kitchen runs from bacon and egg ciabatta and kipper and eggs through to pancakes with bacon and pistachio dusting, and vegan pancakes sit on the same list alongside a sweet chili cod burger and fish and chips. The seating stretches indoors, through an alfresco middle section, and out to tables set right over the sea, with the White Cliffs of Dover on view from the room. Dogs are welcome at the tables. Service is walk-in, and the team sometimes steers guests to the online menu when the printed copies are all in use.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the sea views, with the white Cliffs of Dover visible, alongside breakfast dishes like kipper and eggs, vegan pancakes and a bacon and egg ciabatta. Close behind come the coffee and a sweet chili cod burger, plus friendly staff. One reviewer on a bank holiday Monday found the kitchen closed, with no menus left on tables, and the kitchen staff seemed overwhelmed.

“Disappointing visit. Check waiting times before ordering. We visited on bank holiday Monday just before lunchtime. The sign said to take a seat and order at the bar so we did. There was no menu on our table so we asked a waitress for a menu and she said they had none available and all menus were being used and to ask another table for a menu. Alternatively, we used the online menu and went to order at the bar. I was greeted at the bar to be told the kitchen had closed, the kitchen staff seemed overwhelmed with the orders coming in. This was disappointing to hear and was told a 40 minute wait until the kitchen reopened. Wouldn't recommend if it looks busy!”

“I missed the English breakfast so had to settle for pancakes and bacon with pistachio dusting? I needed filling, and it did the job, delicious and the coffee was also amazing. Will try to get there a little earlier next time to catch the brunch. The staff were all very good and attentive and you have plenty of options where to sit, inside, inside looking out, alfesco middle section or right over the sea lol.”

“Delicious brunch of kipper and eggs, perfectly cooked and presented.”
