Customer Review Summary
Scones draw the most mentions, with one reviewer calling the cheese scones excellent and another praising lovely scones, while coffee and cakes, pastries, lunch and fresh fruit and vegetable juice follow close behind. Reviewers describe a quirky building with a clay workshop upstairs, pottery exhibitions, cushions and blankets on the seats, and courtyard seating outside. Staff are repeatedly called lovely and welcoming, and the venue is also hired for events. One couple praised their anniversary party and its giant floral centrepiece, and a family described a christening buffet from The Hobo, served from a Citroen bar in the drive. Criticism centres on drinks and service. One visitor found the hot chocolate mediocre. Another felt ignored by staff busy chatting and got lukewarm tea and average food. A third had an order messed up, and staff could not work out how to refund what was never delivered.

“Lovely staff and food, very clean, and ever so helpful when one of our party got stung by a bee.”

“On entry I was not made to feel welcome. Staff were more involved in their own chatter than taking notice of me. Food was average at best and the tea was luke warm.”

“Visited last week for a hot chocolate and a snack. The staff and the atmosphere were excellent and couldn't be faulted. We have cheese scones which were also excellent but the hot chocolate was pretty mediocre to be honest - this was a bit disappointing. We often get hot chocolate from Lionheart Bookshop in Woking - which is by far superior (like a completely different level to the hot chocolate here) - the proprietor of this café should go to Lionheart in Woking to experience this & ask them how to make hot chocolate properly.”

“I love this place: such a good atmosphere, love looking at the exhibitions and pottery and, most importantly, the coffee and cakes are fab. Lovely staff, too.”

“The most gorgeous hidden gem! We had amazing lunch, coffee and pastries! When we walked in we immediately felt welcomed and the service was so fast and pleasant we would have stayed all day! A great place for an event, a quiet coffee with a book or to find a gift! Thank you!”
