Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return to the fully gluten-free menu, with the carrot cake the specific dessert raised most, called moist, flavoursome and a great portion, and the chocolate brownie also praised as delicious. Close behind is breakfast: the avocado on toast with poached eggs, and the owners breakfast with bacon one diner called incredible. A coeliac reviewer says the food doesn't even taste gluten free, and others describe staff as friendly and knowledgeable about allergies. The matcha, an oat milk latte and a beetroot, goats cheese and walnut salad also earn mentions, along with the cosy atmosphere, the back garden and a warm welcome for dogs. Coffee draws a mixed response, with one reviewer finding it great and another calling it just ok. One notes the carrot cake isn't cheap, though it was good enough that the price didn't matter. Another says coffee and a smoothie came quickly but the food took ages, and the taco salad fell short of the avocado on toast.

“Our first visit to Roost and it definitely won’t be our last 💫 Absolutely delicious food in such a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere. The coffee was excellent, the desserts were incredible, and the gluten-free menu were an absolute game changer ✨️ It’s rare to find somewhere that gets everything right — amazing food, lovely ambience, and a menu that genuinely caters for everyone. Already looking forward to coming back!”

“Had the “owners breakfast” with add-on chorizo, and 2 coffees. Coffee was ok, but the food was 10/10. Next time I’d get extra bacon instead of chorizo, their bacon was incredible.”

“Really lovely independent cafe serving super, imaginative homemade food. I had the beetroot, goats cheese and walnut salad, which was delicious. As was the chocolate brownie. Our dog was made very welcome too and enjoyed his treat. Thoroughly recommend.”

“WOW, WOW, WOW. I was diagnosed nearly a year ago as coeliac and I'm so used to eating average substitutes, this place is ALL gluten free and it's amazing. It doesn't even taste gluten free. Don't walk, run. Amazing amazing, can't wait to go back. Infact I'm going to call to try and ask for some recipes!!!”
