About Salt & Sage Bistro

Salt & Sage Bistro is a bistro in Fareham that opens for breakfast and lunch, with a live singer performing at the venue. The breakfast list covers mixed berry pancakes, a big breakfast, and a full fry of three sausages, two eggs, bubble and squeak, two rashers of bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, black pudding and toast. Lunch adds burgers and salads to the menu, and booths seat four to six. The team accommodates pre-theatre dining, including a recent party of seven, and outside seating is available for those who arrive with dogs. The format works for both early starts and group bookings ahead of an evening out.

Customer Review Summary

The full English breakfast draws the most praise, with several diners singling out generous portions, bubble and squeak, and good value. Pancakes and burgers also earn mentions for solid quality and size, and staff are repeatedly described as friendly and quick, though one pre-theatre group reports indifferent service, food that missed the menu description, and a refused remake. Most say they will return.

“Great price and great food. We have slept on this hidden gem since it opened but will definitely be back!”

“Following my daughters successful enrollment in college today we decided to stop in early and have some lunch, we arrived at 11:20 hoping to avoid any lunch time rush. The seating was mostly in booths for 4 to 6 people which I actually really liked it gives an extra sense of privacy. Anyway it took only seconds to decide on our lunch, my daughter opted for the mixed berry pancakes while I obviously had to have a big breakfast, service was quick and all the staff were very pleasant. A nice little cafe”

“A great place for lunch. My wife, a friend and I dropped in for lunch - one burger and 2 salads. All were impressed with the food quality and portions were of a good size. Service is quick and friendly.”

“A superb English Breakfast, it was cooked to perfection, freindly and helpful staff who were very good at their profession. The only reason we didn't give five stars for atmosphere as we were the first customers of the day. Will definitely go again, all the best Peter and James”
  • PHIL SYMONS
“Without question, the best full fry I have had in many a year - my only complaint…… it was huge, I couldn’t eat it all 3 “proper meaty” sausages, 2 eggs, bubble & squeak, 2 rashers of decent bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, black pudding & toast Great value, great staff also What a gem of a place - can’t wait to come back”
