About BFK @ Hanlons Brewery
BFK @ Hanlons Brewery is an American BBQ restaurant in Exeter, opened in February 2019 as a joint venture between Hanlons Brewery and the La Cantina South West street food van. Beers brewed on site sit alongside the food, with ciders also on the drinks list. The kitchen smokes its ribs in a firepit smoker, and the Peggy Sue platter is built for sharing, with smokehouse beans among its sides. Beer-battered fish and fries run next to the BBQ menu for anyone who wants something different. The restaurant opens Thursday to Saturday and is closed the rest of the week. Individual cabins are available for private parties, and some have heating and a Bluetooth speaker, which suits groups.

Customer Review Summary
The caveats are about consistency. One diner found the chicken wings and pork cubes dry and salty, and the ribs and smokehouse beans too sweet. Another says quality has slipped over the past year, with loaded bacon fries carrying about three bacon bits and fries that taste frozen. A third describes stale chips tucked under fresh ones and a bland Boers sausage. Even so, one reviewer calls the portions good value, and another says nobody leaves hungry.

“The atmosphere is really chilled and relaxed, but the food is the real standout. Everything was absolutely delicious, packed with flavour”

“Portion size for cost was good value. The food itself was tasty for the most part, I think the Boers sausage wasn't too flavourful, overall nothing blew us away flavour wise. The chef snuck some really stale chips under fresh ones which was pretty cheeky and clearly deliberate. The waitress who brought the food over kept asking me to pass stuff to people, not my job really. Some beers were good, others not so much but I appreciated them all and though I didn't enjoy some, they were good quality.”

“Beer Factory and Kitchen is the amalgamation of two successful independent business: La Cantina South West and Hanlons Brewery. After holding amazingly successful popups at the Brewery, with Hanlons producing their delicious beers and La Cantina's much loved street food van serving their epic burgers and hip sides, the two enterprises decided to join together to open a new and exciting restaurant 'Beer Factory and Kitchen' in February 2019.”
