“Today was my first experience at 36 on the Quay, although my partner has visited several times over the past few years. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel incredibly welcome, greeted with warm smiles and a friendly hello. We visited for Sunday lunch and chose to sit in the spacious outdoor garden, which was a lovely setting. The roast dinner was absolutely delicious—beautifully presented, fresh, piping hot, and cooked to perfection. Throughout our meal, the staff checked on us several times to make sure everything was to our liking and asked if there was anything else they could do for us. Carolina and Sophie were especially wonderful—friendly, attentive, and they couldn’t have done more to make our visit enjoyable. To finish, we shared a simple ice cream dessert. It wasn’t on the regular menu, but they were more than happy to accommodate our request, which was a lovely touch. Before writing this review, I read some of the lower-rated reviews and honestly couldn’t believe they were describing the same place. Our experience was outstanding from start to finish. We will definitely be returning again soon. Thank you to everyone at 36 on the Quay for such a wonderful afternoon.”

“As a general eating experience I'd give it 5*s but for fine dining 3.5 Service was very good: attentive, friendly, speedy. Lovely touch that they made gestures for our anniversary. Minor comment that nobody checked at any point if we were happy with the food. Location and atmosphere including decor all lovely. The food was enjoyable and if it was a standard restaurant or pub I'd be more than happy. My wife and I went for the 8 course tasting menu and had a lovely time. Being hyper critical, for a fine dining experience, the food could have been better. Small details matter for fine dining and the were patterns across the dishes that let them down. The fat wasn't rendered or crisped properly on the duck, I had grit in both my scallop and my lobster, there were certain ingredients listed you couldn't taste because they were overpowered by others (for instance on the rose and harissa duck, all my wife and I could taste was rose). Both pre - desert and main desert were nothing particularly exciting that you'd find outside of a normal meal. Some dishes were under seasoned and others a little salty. There were two stand out dishes though, the waygu beef and the turbot, which were both delicious and cooked very well. With the turbot, there did need to be more of the accompaniment (again, small details). I give this feedback not to moan but hopefully to help them elevate the food for the future. It was a busy service and I sense that dishes were rushed out a little. Perhaps running a smaller service and concentrating on those details would help the experience. Again, to be clear, if I'd paid £50-60 for a meal there I would have been delighted, but for £90ph fine dining menu, there were improvements to be made Overall my wife and I had a lovely experience and you should go and try it yourself.”

“Just exceptional. I've never tasted such delicious beef. Delightful surroundings. A place to feel special. Not overly expensive so will definitely go back again at the first opportunity.”

“We tried the tasting menu. A huge disappointment. The Langoustines and bass were overcooked. The cockles were gritty. The char sui was just a dollop and not very tasty. The fat on the lamb cutlet had not been rendered . The coriander, raisins and curry sauce were not nice with lamb. The wagu beef was smothered in something that was not nice. The food combinations were weird and didn't go together. A real shame that the ingredients were treated so badly. They should have been delicious”

“Lovely evening. My husband and I had the 8 course tasting menu £90 each. I was a little disappointed with the 3 fish courses we had. They were nice but didn't wow me. The 3 meat courses were lovely. Personally I didn't like the desert course as it was chocolate and I'm not keen on chocolate dessert. Restaurant nicely decorated. Staff very friendly and informative. I would return.”
