Customer Review Summary

Pizza is the main draw, with diners calling it delicious and singling out the Margarita from the kids' menu. Dough balls and a lasagna with wine also earn praise, and one parent says the kids' menu goes well beyond microwaved mac and cheese. Another found the doughnut balls in a kids' meal disappointing and wanted an alternative. One reviewer wanted the thin crust crispier. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and kind, even during busy weekend lunches and the rush before the Military Tattoo, and a hostess was helpful to a guest whose English was limited. Slow service is the recurring complaint. One family expected a quick lunch from an "express" name but waited ages between starters, mains and dessert, nudged the waiter several times, and were asked to pay before dessert arrived. Another says staff were on their phones and water took three requests. A few note that construction outside leaves the room darker and gloomy. One birthday table was given a complimentary dessert.

“Really bad experience. Took ages to get served, staff were on their phones and not paying any attention to anyone. We saw lots of other tables frustrated. I have coeliac disease and ordered the gluten free pizza and halloumi bites (which i should not the menu says coeliac accredited! not this restaurant anyway!!) It’s now been a few hours and safe to say the food was not handled correctly. I am viciously ill which means it was more than slight cross contamination. We also had to ask three times just to receive water and they took insanely long.”

“Dropped in for a late lunch with the family, expecting a quick lunch given the express in their name. However, it was a total disaster and disappointed experience for the whole family. We spent a whopping 90mins inside this restaurant just only to have a pizza, pasta and a kids menu 🤦🏻‍♂️ order was taken quickly but it took ages to get the food in the order of starter, mains & dessert. They even asked us to pay before the dessert was served. We had to nudge the waiter many a times to get the food. Came out with a complete disappointment and a heavy head, these folks better change their name to something else as ‘express’ doesn’t suit them.”

“We have visited this restaurant before we went to see the Military Tattoo at the castle. It was very busy but they managed to find us a table and the service was excellent. The lady that served our table was clearly very busy but still had time to be friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent for all of us, dad and I had a pizza while mom had a salad, and the buzz of the place was very positive.. Yes they have some darker spaces in the room as there is construction at the moment but that did not impact our experience. When visiting Edinburgh again, I would not doubt that I will eat here again.”

“I am writing to share my positive experience during a recent visit to store at Edinburgh location. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, and I was particularly impressed by the service provided during a very busy weekend lunch. I would like to specifically commend Mr. Mareddy for his excellent service. Despite the high volume of customers, he remained cheerful while taking orders and serving our table. As a small note for improvement, I would suggest maintaining a more pleasant fragrance in the washroom area for guests. Thank you for a satisfying experience.”

“This is one of the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life. The Margarita on the Kid’s Menu were absolutely incredible and the general kids menu was surprisingly amazing and not just like microwaved Mac and cheese or some fried chicken. The workers were very kind. This was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever had! Highly recommended by me:)”
