  “Do not waste your time or money. We went along thinking it would be somewhere different from the usual. And it definitely was different. Whilst the person behind the bar was lovely it was a complete con. Everyone in the room was asked what drinks they liked and after being told they didn’t do any fizzy drinks, fresh fruit drinks, the list went on, she then took half an hour to make all the drinks but basically watched her pour a jug of premixed drink into each glass along with a drop from any type of booze bottle to hand. My other half got a less fruity version of what I had …… no idea what it was but cost £14 each for the privilege. If you want something quirky made by someone who is basically winging it like she’s in her kitchen at a house party then this place is definitely for you. If on the other hand you’d like a decent cocktail I’d give this place a wide berth and go somewhere else”

  “Brilliant experience at Never Really Here! Shaarai is hands down the most magnificent bartender I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She totally nailed exactly what I was after, friendly, charismatic, and genuinely passionate about creating something special. On the spot, she invented a "Pickle Spritz" for me, and somehow it was exactly what I'd been craving. It absolutely nailed the brief and may have genuinely changed my life. 😂 The drinks, the atmosphere, and the service were all outstanding, but Shaarai really made the experience unforgettable. 100% worth a visit if you're anywhere nearby. Fantastic experience from start to finish, 10/10, can't wait to come back!”

  “Great speak easy, once located. Give the brass knocker a bang, you will be greeted by 2 lovely, friendly young ladies who will rustle you up a great cocktail based on your tastes, we had 2 great cocktails each, got the recipe for one of them, highly recommend, great ambience, definitely visit again when in Edingburgh. Fantastic”

  “If you have no patience and need groveling to, this place ain't for you. If you can wait a few minutes, you will be rewarded. The new manager is kickass and makes drinks to your preference. Even if it isn't your preferred flavor profile, *chef's kiss*. Shaarai is a one woman show, making us feel at home and serving up the best flavored mixed drinks I've had in recent memory. Kudos!”

  “Edited after response from owner highlited some misinformation in my review. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! WILL RUIN YOUR NIGHT!!! Knocked on door as it stated on their Instagram, no answer but we could hear there were people in and it sounded loud. Another couple then arrived and knocked also and once again no answer. We knocked again and luckily people were leaving the venue. We were then greeted by bar staff at the door that said there was only room for two. As polite people do we were trying to convince the other couple to enter but was then instructed by the bar staff that we must hurry up as he is all alone and very busy. We apologised and entered feeling very awkward and rushed but we gave him the benefit of the doubt that if he is busy and alone he is probably stressed. To our suprise there were 6 people in the venue and two very big tables empty. We were then rudely told to sit in the corner...that was it, no explanation if he would serve us soon or what to do. He then proceeded to stand at the bar and play on his phone for 10 minutes. When he finally decided to start making drinks he went to the two tables that had been there and took their orders. He then proceeded to make the tables drinks and have fun and make jokes with them all. Then as he was serving them making eye contact with myself and my wife multiple times with no smile or friendly word. Once the two other tables had their drinks we thought "great now we can make an order"......ooooo how wrong we were. The bar staff then proceeded to sit with the tables of girls and drink with them. He was joking with them and having fun while completely ignoring us on the other side. My wife and I then realised we had been sitting there for 30 minutes with not a word to us or even a smile. We then decided to leave as the bar staff poured himself and the girls a second drink and was sipping it while sitting with the other tables ignoring us once again. From past reviews I can see that only couples and men are providing 1 or 2 star reviews while ladies seem to have a fantastic time in the venue. If you want to have a nice drink and a good time...FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE!! If you want to stand outside in the cold for 10 minutes to then be ignored for 30 minutes then this is the place to go.”

  “Shaarai was the only one working the night we went, and she did a fantastic job! She made fantastic (VERY boozy) cocktails I never would have thought to ask for, and her humour really made the atmosphere. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had going to a bar. Will definitely recommend to others and try to go again!”

  “This was a highlight of our time in Edinburgh. Shaarai crafted exceptional drinks that perfectly suited everyone’s tastes, all while single-handedly running the bar. She created a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend stopping by and approaching the drinks with an open mind (and a bit of patience, as the space is small!).”

  “This bar was one of the highlights of our trip to Edinburgh! Our group of 5 came in on a Thursday night and Shaarai gave us the best experience. She personalized 5 different cocktails based on our individual preferences (this is what the bar is known for), and each drink was absolutely fantastic. So worth the wait to get in. AND Shaarai was working by herself and handled the whole bar without sacrificing quality or the personalized experience. She's a rockstar! This bar's concept is so unique. Definitely check it out if you're in the area.”
