About Gordon Ramsay Street Burger - Edinburgh
Gordon Ramsay Street Burger is a hamburger restaurant in Edinburgh, on the fourth floor of the St James Quarter shopping centre. Burgers anchor the menu, including the Next Level Burger and a Scottish-inspired burger that is exclusive to this location, and fries come alongside. The kitchen also serves loaded Koffmann's fries, shakes and cocktails. Free arcade games are on site, and a DJ plays music in the dining area, so a meal here comes with entertainment included. Payment is by card only, and cash is not accepted. Bookings are taken, and a queue forms at the door. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Burgers draw the most comment, with the Next Level Burger named most often. One reviewer found it tasty but overloaded with onions, and another enjoyed it with an extra patty. The Wellington Burger earned praise, while the Chilli Cheese Smash Burger disappointed one diner and a gluten-free chicken burger was called tough. Fries come close behind, described as hot, fresh, golden and crispy, and one reviewer calls them some of the best they have had. The mac and cheese was found bland, and the sticky toffee pudding had a boxed-cake taste. Service splits sharply. Some describe lovely staff, a welcoming room and a DJ adding to the atmosphere. Several report slow service and food that felt average for the Gordon Ramsay name, including one table that waited well over an hour and watched a server skip them entirely. One reviewer describes a dusty, grimy restroom. Another says a waiter admitted he saw a group cut the queue and said nothing.

“I'm surprised to read so many positive reviews because our experience was very different. This was our second Gordon Ramsay restaurant, and unfortunately it's reinforcing an impression of slow service, average food, and a dining experience that doesn't live up to the name. We ordered burgers and a chicken Caesar salad. After being seated, we waited an unusually long time for anyone to take our order. At one point I watched a server make a complete circuit of the dining room, skip our table entirely, and not return for another 20 minutes. Even after ordering, it was another long wait before our food arrived. We spent well over an hour sitting hungry before we were finally served. It seemed like the restaurant was having a particularly rough evening. One table sent food back, and another customer had an entire tray of drinks spilled on them. The staff appeared overwhelmed. When the food finally arrived, it was simply average. The burgers and Caesar salad were fine, but nothing memorable and certainly not what we'd expect from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. I hope Gordon pays attention to guest feedback because, based on our two experiences, his restaurants haven't reflected the high standards and attention to detail that made his reputation.”

“Great burgers, and the food pricing felt fair compared to other places, although the drinks were on the expensive side. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the free arcade games were a fun touch. The main area for improvement would be the customer service, as it felt a bit lacking in attentiveness and the warm hospitality you often find in local spots. Overall, it was a good experience, and I’d definitely come back.”

“I recently visited the Edinburgh branch and had a lovely experience overall. The atmosphere was welcoming, ordering was quick and easy, and the food arrived at a good speed. I ordered the Next Level Burger, which was really tasty. My only criticism is that it contained far too many onions, to the point where I had to remove most of them because they completely overpowered the flavour of the burger. My friend ordered the Chilli Cheese Smash Burger but unfortunately didn’t enjoy it, commenting that her homemade version is much better. Another friend had the Wellington Burger and really enjoyed it. My partner also ordered the Next Level Burger with an extra patty and thoroughly enjoyed his meal. We also ordered the mac and cheese for my friend’s child. The adults tried it first and found it to be very bland, lacking the flavour we were expecting. Overall, the service, atmosphere, and speed of service were excellent. While most of our meals were enjoyable, there are a few dishes that could benefit from better seasoning and a more balanced use of ingredients.”

“We always make it a point to visit a Gordon Ramsay restaurant whenever we travel, especially the Street Burger concept, so we were really looking forward to this visit. The Edinburgh location is easy to find inside the shopping centre and has plenty of seating. We visited during a relatively quiet time, yet the service was surprisingly slow. The drinks were enjoyable, but unfortunately the food was a letdown. The burgers were average at best and nowhere near the standard we’ve experienced at Gordon Ramsay’s other restaurants. We came in expecting the same quality and consistency, but this meal fell well short of those expectations. Considering how much we enjoy Street Burger, we have to go back and give it another chance. Looks like we just had a bad day! Overall, we really wanted to love it, but this wasn’t the Gordon Ramsay experience we were hoping for. Sadly, it’s not somewhere we’d be rushing back to.”

“Exactly what you expect! A reliable burger. Fries hot and fresh. Good service. I got the sticky toffee pudding, which was tasty but the cake gave a slightly boxed taste and the ice cream was soft serve (better quality would be a scoop). I’ve had better. A bit expensive but you’re in tourist land. Be aware, this place does NOT take cash!”
