About Leaf and Ground
Leaf and Ground is a cafe on Dursley Rd in Dursley, sharing its site with a deli and a garden centre, so a visit can combine a meal with shopping for plants, both indoor and outdoor. The deli sells fresh local produce, wines and gourmet treats to take home, and a gift shop stocks handmade items such as pottery and candles. Customers order at the bar area using a tablet, and the tables are numbered. A children's play area sits next to the cafe, and a walk leads down from the site to a small lake. Dogs are welcome at the cafe, though not inside the deli.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the setting, a courtyard and grounds with a lake walk, a play area for children and a garden centre, deli and gift shop to browse before or after eating. Food comes close behind: one diner singles out smoked trout with beetroot, a black pudding scotch egg, duck and a rhubarb and pistachio meringue, while a breakfast of avocado and poached eggs on sourdough with streaky bacon gets generous portions and a cappuccino is called one of the best in a long time. Dog friendliness and free parking come up repeatedly, though a few note dogs are not allowed in the deli. Several suggest booking ahead. The caveat is service. One group waited for an order to be taken and ended up ordering outside, another waited for breakfast that had been delivered to a different table and received a full refund with little apology, and one reviewer got dairy in an oat milk latte, quickly remade. Outside, staff struggled to match drinks and food to numbered tables.

“Finally visited today ! Quick Look around first then found a table & ordered tea, coffee & breakfast !! Our drinks were brought out, then we waited & waited after 45mins, my husband enquired!! Apparently our food had been brought out but to a different table ???? Requested a refund, not much of apology, but full refund given. Very disappointed 😞”

“On a sunny day this is a great place to sit with its setting reminiscent of a Mediterranean villa. Sun baked courtyards offer great views and welcome shade and there is an excellent cafe serving delicious food with friendly staff. There is a well stocked shop with lots of tempting offers and prices that seemed pretty decent. Finally the garden centre itself offers most things a keen gardener would need. It’s also worth a short walk down to the lake with its restful surroundings and a welcome place to sit. Very much a recommended stop if you are visiting the area.”

“A fabulous setting, great location and brilliant food. I always recommend Leaf & Ground to friends looking for somewhere to catch-up with other friends and family who might be travelling through Gloucestershire. It’s got an exciting space for children to run around including a play area, there’s a short walk with a small lake and then there are big relaxed spaces to eat with brilliant quality food. Exit through the deli to take home some treats. We stop regularly but our last visit was en route home from a long drive back from Cornwall.”

“Beautiful scenery and building, could easily be a wedding venue. Free parking as well. The food was delicious, however... I ordered a latte with oat milk and it came with dairy, I wasn't asked about intolerances/allergies either when ordering food/drink. It was rectified quickly but naturally it's annoying. The staff could be friendlier, but I appreciate it was busy. We sat outside and had to go in to order, usually no problem however there is no real till/place to order from. You just go to the bar area and stand in a huddle and wait for someone to notice and approach you with a tablet, not great when it's busy as there's no queue/line. The other issue with outside is the staff had no idea what table was where. The tables are numbered, yet our drinks then food made it round the entire courtyard and we had to flag them down. I guess people move tables around a lot outside and I can imagine this is annoying for the staff, perhaps the owners/managers could help create a system to help the staff here? (E.g., give customers a table number with a flag so staff can easily see where to go). Good experience, but could have been improved in areas.”

“What a lovely place to spend a few hours. The café is warm and welcoming, serving a delicious cappuccino that was easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time. I’d definitely recommend booking ahead as it’s clearly a popular spot. The deli is fantastic, filled with fresh local produce, quality wines, seasonal vegetables and plenty of gourmet treats to take home. There’s also a charming gift shop offering beautiful handmade items including pottery, candles and other unique pieces from local makers. I also loved browsing the indoor and outdoor plants for sale — such a great selection and very well cared for. The grounds themselves are beautiful, perfect for a relaxing walk around before or after visiting the café. Free parking is another big bonus and makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. A wonderful destination with something for everyone — highly recommend visiting.”
