Quick info
About Ocean n' Wok
Ocean n' Wok is a Chinese takeaway at 31 Lowther Rd in Dunstable, with a menu that runs beyond Chinese dishes into chip-shop food. The Chinese side of the menu includes spring rolls. The chip-shop side covers fish and chips, with curry sauce also sold, so one takeaway handles both styles of order. Orders are placed by phone, and the phone line is often busy, with a line of callers to get through.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come back to the food itself, calling it delicious, lovely and great, with delivery described as extremely quick by one and reasonable on a Saturday night by another. A first-time visitor went for fish and chips and found the thick chips closer to burger shop ones, with the sausages and curry sauce all good. Staff are described as polite, friendly and efficient, including toward one customer stopping in on the way home from the pub. The complaints centre on service and consistency. Several mention a constantly busy phone line, and one calls the phone service rude and the delivery far too slow. One reviewer reports something missing from an order on both occasions they ordered. Another reports finding hair in their food on three separate orders while still calling the taste very good, and one reviewer noticed cigarette smoke from the kitchen. Another says a loosely closed container let sauce leak everywhere and left the spring rolls soggy.

“Have used this place a few times now. Introduced by my daughter. Absolutely lovely food. Thanks . Ordered again tonight. Another delicious meal served up.”

“Leaving this review as for the third time I've found hair in our food. On the first occasion this occurred I assumed it was a rare mistake. We received our food promptly and it was very nice, but the addition of the hair was quite unwelcome. We ordered a second and third time from this takeaway because the taste was very good but both times we have found hair in the meals. Clearly this is not a one-off but a lack of proper hygiene precautions. We will not be ordering again but would also like to advise everyone else that there is a high chance their food is contaminated. If people are not wearing hair nets, I can only assume they don't follow other basic hygiene procedures such as washing their hands.”

“Popped in for something to eat on the way home from the pub. They were really polite and helpful despite my probably drunken state. The food was delicious, fresh and just how I like and asked for. Couldn't fault it and will be back again.”
