About Hong Kong Chef
Hong Kong Chef is a Chinese takeaway in Doncaster, at 25 Station St, open every day and only in the evenings. The kitchen cooks crispy chilli beef and lemon chicken, with pork balls among the other dishes on offer. Customer Review Summary
The negatives carry real weight. One reviewer found the crispy chilli beef chewy, the batter soggy and the salt and pepper chips undercooked. Another reports burnt bits from the wok in sauces and rice, pineapple in a lemon chicken and small spring rolls. Others describe tasteless food, rock hard chips and curry vegetables, and a beef curry that arrived as chicken. A vegetarian household says chicken turned up in their food three times and that staff blamed them rather than correcting it. One reviewer, who had enjoyed an earlier order, found the next one tasteless and asked if a different chef was cooking, and a first-time customer was told to pay in cash.

“Had a Chinese take away yesterday, for the first time in Misterton, thought we try the local , after many years of hesitations, what a mistake. We rather travel 10 mins to Gainsborough, where there are quite a few options or the other way towards Haxey way , more choices and better tastier food. We only tried two dishes, thought just to know how it would taste, without hesitation, one of the worst Chinese food. Very bland , tasteless and not like the hundreds of Chinese dishes we had from others. We feel they need some competition to improve. We had to bin most of the food . And on top of everything, they demanded we pay cash. I didn’t have any cash , was expecting to use Apple Pay as I do almost everywhere. I don’t understand why there are businesses around which still expect cash , why ?? The only ok part of my experience was the politeness and explanation given by the young lady at the counter. Will not go there again.”

“Don't know what happened as this Chinese is normally good , Just picked my food up its gone in the bin , the crispy chilli beef was not crispy just chewy, the pork balls tasted like sausage meat and fell apart like it , the batter was soggy not crispy , and the chips were undercooked and soggy , suppose to be salt and pepper chips but had chilli flakes on them .so disappointed, a waste of £18 .”

“Nice food, a little disappointed that some food doesn't come in gravy. Curries excellent.”

“We thought we would have a takeaway for a change, but it really was not good. We ordered a beef curry and got chicken. The chips were rock hard as was the vegetables in the curry. Very disappointing 😞”
