About The Alma Tavern

The Alma Tavern is a pub on Lower Addiscombe Road in Croydon, run as a bar, restaurant, and sports bar under one roof, with a separate food menu kept apart from the bar side of the business. Table service is provided by waitresses throughout, and the kitchen sits alongside a 2-for-1 cocktail offer at the bar. Dogs are welcome on the premises, and the team keeps a bowl of water and a biscuit ready for them. The format combines a beer garden with the main pub and sports bar setup, giving the venue a flexible mix of drinking, dining, and match-day space on one site.

Customer Review Summary

Less positive experiences surface around inconsistent opening hours, difficulty reaching the pub by phone, and one detailed account describing cold food, a stale-tasting rice and peas, and an unwelcoming response from the kitchen when an order was sent back. Despite these concerns, most reviewers describe a welcoming pub worth returning to.

“The guy at the bar was really friendly and helpful. The bar and the food is separate. The waitress who took my order was amazing but the chef had an attitude. The food was served cold , sent it back and the chef rolled his eyes at us. The curry goat wasn't great and I could tell the rice and peas was stale. The steamed veg was amazing .”
