About Poon's Welcome
Poon's Welcome is a Chinese takeaway at 29 Bridge St in Craigavon, open daily and evenings only. It used to be a restaurant as well as a takeaway, and the takeaway is the part customers can order from now. Customer Review Summary
Chicken dishes divide reviewers most at this takeaway. Salt and chilli chicken draws the clearest praise, with one visiting couple calling it beautiful and also enjoying the special fried rice. Others call the food tasty, unreal, or still as good as it was years ago, and they mention pleasant staff, a lovely woman at reception, a clean look, a good menu range, and no long wait. One says prices run a bit dearer than nearby takeaways, while another finds them reasonable. The complaints are specific and centre on chicken. One reviewer found parts of a chicken curry and a chicken ball black inside and rubbery, another called the chicken balls the worst they had had and the honey chilli chicken very sweet and oily, and a third suspected turkey in a chicken dish. A returning customer found the Chow Mein Special greasy and short on vegetables, and reports feeling sick afterwards. One reviewer says quality is hit and miss, and another got an order wrong once but still enjoyed the food.

“I remember Poons Welcome from when I was younger, the Chow Mein Specials were my favourite, so I haven't been here in years and I recently tried the Chow Mein Special and it was a far cry from what it used to be like years ago, it was very greasy with no peppers, onions, no water chestnuts and no bean sprouts either, no vegetables at all only a few burnt what looked like scallions thrown in, it actually made me feel sick after eating it, full of grease, I actually could still taste it the next day, a family member said it was one of the worst Chinese takeaways they had ever had. Definitely not the same as what it used to be like.”
