Quick info
About Golden Bamboo
Golden Bamboo is a Chinese takeaway on Portadown Rd in Armagh. The kitchen cooks Chinese food and serves it in enormous portions, which means a single order comes out large. Salt chilli chips are on the menu as a side to go with the main dishes, and crispy chips are listed too. The portion size is the main thing to expect from this takeaway, and the chips give customers a second item to add to the order alongside their Chinese dishes.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the Special Qing Dao, praised for charred, crispy meat and paired with salt chilli chips, with the Chicken Qing Dao also getting a mention. Close behind are the portions, which several call big or enormous for the price, alongside spicy beef chow mein, honey chilli chicken, xo chicken, and ribs with honey and lemon. Crispy chips come up as a bonus, and a few mention fast service and food that was neither over nor undercooked. One parent describes staff laying out a child's noodles and rice a particular way without any fuss. The main complaints concern wrong orders and slow delivery. One reviewer received a meal with green peppers after asking for no vegetables, then said a replacement arrived the same way, and that the driver on the phone said peppers don't count as veg and asked for a photo. Another said an order went wrong and that phoning in afterward went nowhere, and a third waited three hours for food while living nearby, with hungry children at home.

“My daughter is on the spectrum, and when I asked if they could lay her noodles/rice out a certain way they did it without issue and did it perfectly. That alone is enough to recommend them to anyone. The food is pretty good as well”

“Worst experience ive ever had. My boyfriend made a phone order tonight, our first time ever trying hear and we will never be back. Food came and my meal was wrong I asked for no veg on my meal and it was explained on the phone that there was green onions or peppers all over it along with a long dark hair in the middle, was given the option of a replacement or a free meal on our next order, asked for a replacement with no veg as I wasn't going to eat it. The replacement came and the driver asked for the food back which was odd felt like they didn't believe us. I left my replacement food sitting there while I tended to my baby. About 15mins later I went to put my food out and it was the exact same it had the green pepper things all over it so boyfriend rang again to tell them only to be told on the phone that the chef said we got it wrong that there was no veg on it even tho we had it sitting infront of us, then for some reason the driver came on the phone being rude, said that they dont class green peppers as veg and asked for a picture to be sent to her phone. They were told that we would not be back and will be telling everyone about this experience.”

“Just had the best takeaway in my life tonight, no contest. Having last week experimented on a new dish I hadn't had before in Chicken Qing Dao I moved on to the Special Qing Dao tonight with salt chilli chips, it was unbelievable!! The meat was superb, charred and crispy! The ribs with honey and lemon excellent also. My new favourite takeaway*****”
