About China Garden Restaurant
China Garden Restaurant is a Chinese restaurant in Colwyn Bay, at 10 Penrhyn Rd. The menu pairs beef and tomato with chips, a Chinese-restaurant dish served alongside a takeaway-style side. Customer Review Summary
Delivery is what most reviewers describe, and the praise centres on salt and pepper chicken and chips, which one calls a favourite, along with beef and tomato with chips and a chicken curry described as the best in a while. Several report delivery arriving on time or early, well packed, with a few extras thrown in, and the driver called polite and cheerful. Dine-in reviewers describe friendly, attentive staff who offered extra food despite generous portions, and one large family group says the restaurant was accommodating. One diner calls the food nice but not fantastic, and notes background Chinese music. The recurring complaint is lateness on busy nights. Two reviewers report Valentine's Day orders arriving around 8.45pm after a slot promised much earlier, with the phone going unanswered, and a New Year's Eve customer describes a sarcastic response when asking for a refund and no apology. One of the Valentine's reviewers received a call explaining a technical problem with orders, was refunded, and reordered happily. A beef curry with a powdery sauce, plus missing prawn crackers and fortune cookies, rounds out the complaints.

“Ordered a takeaway for delivery for 7 people following a recommendation at the holiday home we were staying at. Ordered on line, chose a delivery time and everything arrived on time and well packed with a few extras thrown in. The food was very good with some in the party stating it was some of the best Chinese food they had had for a long time. In fairness I had to agree! If ever back in the area would eat there again and highly recommend.”

“ordered valentine’s day ordered around 3:30 pm in preparation for a busy evening, to start with was given a 30 min deliver slot and that slot came around no food delivered waited another 30 mins still no food delivered it wasn’t until around 8:45 our food arrived, did attempt to contact store was unable to get through, so was debating whether to go down and get the food myself as phone line wouldn’t even ring and when it did there was not an attempt to answer it .ordered a beef curry unfortunately it arrived and wasn’t the nicest sauce tasted fairly powdery and made my meal inedible resulting in me throwing my meal away, egg fried rice was ok as expected, partner ordered beef and tomato and chips and she said it was nice but was also missing prawn crackers and fortune cookies did attempt to call up around issues with food but was still unable to get through usually can’t go wrong with china garden but on this special occasion and for the price it was poor quality on the one meal with other items missing, update 7th march what a difference ordered at 4:30 and selected an 8:30 till 9 o’clock delivery slot order beef and tomato and chips, chicken curry and chips and salt and pepper chicken bites food arrived on time and pipping hot and tasted great best curry i’ve had in awhile definitely much better quality”

“I ordered at 6pm and the stated delivery time was 7.20pm which I accepted because it’s Valentines Day. I tried to call the restaurant 6 times but got an answering machine. I left 2 messages but no reply. The delivery finally came at 8.45pm ! 2 hours and 45 mins is unacceptable! We are regular customers and we feel completely let down. If you are going to deliver 85 mins later that the expected delivery time, why not ring the customer to see if that is acceptable? I turned the driver away and have requested a refund. That better be arranged swiftly ! Update to review. The restaurant phoned me to apologise and explained that there had been a technical problem with the way orders were being allowed through. I did make the point that a phone call to say orders were running so late would have taken 2 mins. Better than my food being wasted as it was returned. I have had confirmation that I have a refund incoming and I did order again last night. The service was great and the food was lovely. Customer service is judged by when things go well as well as when they go badly. When they go badly, it’s about how companies react. On this occasion, China Garden did well. Thanks”
