Quick info
About Dog & Pheasant
On Nayland Road in Colchester, the Dog & Pheasant is a pub and restaurant that opens onto two distinct spaces: a bar area and a separate restaurant room. Dogs are welcome throughout, and the counter staff seat guests on arrival, finding a spot in either room depending on the visit. Food runs in the restaurant alongside drinks from the bar, and the team manages a busy bar area by keeping service moving. The layout suits both walk-in drinkers and diners, with the restaurant side accommodating families who come in to eat and watch football on the screen near the seating. It functions as a straightforward neighbourhood pub on the edge of Colchester, with the kitchen and bar running together across the two rooms.

“Messaged in advance as we were traveling to the area to visit friends. Asked if they were showing the wolves match, prompt response. On arrival as we had a 12 year old we were asked to sit in the restaurant area not the bar, I cant remember the man's name but he made sure we were near the tv so our Son could watch the football and was really helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food was good, limited menu due to the temperatures. Very fairly priced. 👍. All staff very welcoming and we will definitely visit again if in the area. Well done! 😃”
