Customer Review Summary
Chips and fish draw the most praise, with reviewers calling the chips fresh and crispy and top tier, and others simply naming the fish and chips among the best around. Cod and chips gets a good report, and one reviewer singles out the chicken burgers as the best in the area. On one visit a single server was handling everything and seemed stressed, yet stayed polite and friendly. The criticism is real but scattered. One diner found Monday chips overcooked, hollow and greasy, and disliked the coarse salt and the very dark, harsh vinegar. Another had a haddock and small chips order that was not good at all. A third called the food alright but the price a bit higher, and one reviewer regretted the switch from groundnut oil to vegetable oil containing rapeseed. The one-star diner ended up throwing the chips out for the seagulls, which did not want them either.

“Midday Monday, Im guessing the chips I have just been given were left over from Saturday. They were obviously cooked more than once, overcooked, hollow and greasy, horrible…..and the salt and vinegar isn’t much better, the salt is really course and doesn’t dissolve , the vinegar is like paint stripper, very dark and doesn’t taste like traditional vinegar, Im guessing it’s some sort of Chinese vinegar as the outlet is owned by Chinese people. The chips were inedible and were thrown out for the seagulls, but they don’t even want them…..I won’t be going in there again.”

“No longer frying in Groundnut in oil. Now using Vegetable oil which contains Rapeseed. Shame as the wife can not eat it.”
