About The Red Cat Restaurant
In a former pub and old farm building on the outskirts of Chorley, The Red Cat Restaurant serves Mediterranean food from 114 Blackburn Rd. The interior keeps its exposed stone walls, stone fireplaces and traditional wooden beams, and mixes them with modern furniture. The menu covers pizza, pasta, steak and seafood, with a separate specials menu alongside. Guests order drinks at the bar on arrival and then take them to the table. White Witch is on draught, and Peroni is also served.

Customer Review Summary
Family meals centre on pizza, with one family praising the children's pizzas and their range of veggie choices, alongside steak, spaghetti, lasagne and a calzone that one reviewer found tasty but wanting a side of ragu. Close behind are the starters: garlic bread with tomato and cheese, mushrooms on toast called superb, mozzarella fritta and garlic mushrooms. Desserts such as tiramisu, chocolate brownie and ice cream profiteroles also get mentions. Service is repeatedly described as friendly and quick, and reviewers like the beams, stone walls and fireplaces of the old building, which one calls cosy. The main criticism comes from one seafood-focused visit, where the calamari and gambas pil pil were firm and rubbery, the seafood seemed frozen, and the mussels still had beards and uncleaned shells. Another diner enjoyed the mussels. One reviewer advises booking in advance. Several mention generous portions, and one family boxed up what they couldn't finish to take home.

“My first visit to the Red Cat for a family meal. Really friendly and relaxed staff, good advice on the specials on offer. Attentive yet discrete, ie, there when you need them but not pestering as you're trying to eat. Prefect service. The food was great. We all (6) ate different things and every dish looked fantastic with ample amounts to keep even very hungry customers happy. Thanks for making it a great night. Easy parking, outside seating, quiet country setting.”

“We just visited for my husband’s birthday as a family group and had a wonderful evening. The food was lovely, my husband really enjoyed his mussels, and we had the mozzarella fritta which was gorgeous. Then I had salmon and the children had lovely pizzas with a good range of veggie choices. We had wine, beer and cocktails which were all lovely, and having White Witch too was great as my husband enjoys a pint of White Witch. The atmosphere was lovely and the service very attentive. I only wish my Italian was better. Grazie mille.”

“Found this place by accident and what a pleasant surprise we had! We arrived and were very well accommodated, 4 adults and 2 children. We had the most outstanding meals, garlic bread and cheese for starters, pizza, steak, spaghetti mains and ice cream profiteroles for dessert. One of the best meals we have had in a restaurant in a very long time! We will certainly be back.”

“Situated on the outskirts of chorley is a lovely quaint picturesque restaurant - The Red Cat. The area and views surrounding are lovely, perfect for sitting outside relaxing on the sunny day. The restaurant itself self has been created within what can only assume as being an old 1900s ex farm building. As you walk inside, you are greeted by the staff in the bar area, then taken to your seat. As you weave your way into the restaurant going between each room, which features loads period feature, with exposed stone walls, open fire places, and trafitional wooden beams. Overall, the restaurant is lovely and has a real warm, intremate, cosy feeling. The staff were rely friendly an where quick to take our drinks order an similarly our food order, the menu has a great array of dishes, with a wide selection of classic Mediterranean foods avaible. We opted for a bit of a sea food themed kind evening, sampling the calamari, prawns, and mussels too start & then the sea food risotto an side salad. Overall, the food was nice but was let down by the freshness of the sea food (could tell it was all frozen). The mussels sauce was ritch and creamy but let down by the mussels not being properly cleaned (beards still present an some the shells not propper cleaned up). The ganbas pil pil had a great rich tomato sauce, but again, like the calamari firm and rubbery. Not rely what ya exspect with sea food!!! Overall, the food was nice but just let down by the quailty of the produce that was used, but would certainly give this restaurant another go! We did see some of the other dishes that came out, and would bob back try the steak or a pizza looked rely nice 😋. Would be restaurant recommend to family and friends.”

“Visited here on a Sunday. Nice to find a table 🙌🏻 Italian restaurant in a former pub, the vibe is traditional. The menu uses the same font as the awesome Uno’s Trattoria in Newcastle, so I had high hopes. Nice venue inside, with stone flags and space. The staff were accommodating and welcoming. Drinks on arrival yes. Menu is Italian - pizza, pasta etc. opted for mushrooms on toast to start - these were superb; rich and fulsome. For a main, went for the calzone. Tasty. The calzone was decent, but really needed sauce on the side. A little ragu or bolognese works perfectly. 🙌🏻 The beer was Peroni; as it was and as it should be.”
