  “Very disappointing experience. We had a table booked for 7:30pm, but when we arrived, there was no table available and we were told to wait at the bar and order some drinks. What made the experience worse was the attitude of the receptionist at the entrance. He hadn’t even properly confirmed the name on our booking before repeatedly pushing us towards the bar to order drinks. When I went back to confirm that he had the correct name for our reservation, he seemed very impatient and simply told me that she knew and that we should go back to the bar and get a drink. After waiting for quite some time, we noticed that there were also many other people waiting, with no clear indication of how long it would take to get a table. In the end, my friend and I decided to leave. If a restaurant accepts a reservation for 7:30pm, I don’t expect to arrive and be left waiting indefinitely without any explanation. More importantly, the dismissive and impatient attitude from the moment we walked in completely put us off. No matter how good the food may be, good customer service starts the moment a customer walks through the door. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t return or recommend this restaurant. Stay away.”

  “Absolutely terrible. Waited over an hour for food. Chicken liver were smothered in far too much creamy sauce with a few leaves of salad that did t go with the livers and cream sauce (a whole plate full of it). My mum had bruschetta which she said was like rock hard toast with some chopped tomatoes on. For main I ordered a ham and pineapple pizza. I didn’t think it was possible to make a bad pizza - especially at a Mediterranean restaurant. I was wrong. 3 very small pieces of pineapple and far too much sloppy tomato sauce made the centre soggy and the ‘topping’ fall off while the crust was burnt. I ate what I could stomach because after waiting an hour I was hungry but tbf it was pretty revolting. The waiting staff were all very young and dint really seem to know what they were doing and the man who I presume is either the owner or manager was stand offish. The one thing that saved the whole night was the bar tender, a young lad who was serving drinks to both those dining and the people at the bar or sat outside. He was polite, friendly and calm. He should be promoted! To summarise: food = awful, table service = poor, bar service = excellent.”

  “Met up with an old friend for dinner and arrived at 8.15 on a Monday evening. Nothing was too much trouble. The 3 course menu was really good and the food was delicious. As we were catching up and chatting away, time ran away with us but we were not rushed or felt like we had to leave even though it was closing time. Have not been here for years but would definitely return again”

  “This place is fantastic - my mum said we’re “going to a pizza place”- this is not what I expected!!! The menu selection is incredible. The building and views are amazing. The staff were great too (a little stretched on a Friday night but they clearly worked hard to keep service running smoothly) Can’t wait to visit again.”

  “What a shame, all that money spent on the extension yet its all waisted because the staffing and food was terrible. From the minute we walked in they couldn't find our booking, despite me getting a reminder and confirming we'd be there. However, they still showed us to a table in the new extension. Were we sat ages waiting to be asked for drinks, I still don't think we would have got any if we hadn't asked. Then we sat and sat, 30 minutes to be exact, before our order was taken, that was after asking several times. Apparently only the manager was taking orders and as the place was full to bursting he was struggling to cope. Eventually when he came to us he apologised and said it was because some staff were on holiday, why would you let your staff go away at the same time??? Surely any decent manager would stagger staff holidays, especially in the hospitality industry. As we'd been waiting so long we needed new drinks but of course it took ages to order and receive them. I ordered goats cheese starter, which i enjoyed, my partner had haloumi and wild mushrooms which he left. I tried it and its was tasteless. The haloumi was cut into small white cubes, very unappealing and bland, maybe the chef had bolied or steamed it rather than frying it to give it a crispy, toasted flavour. The mushrooms also looked like they had been bolied/steamed as they too were colourless and bland. I ordered risotto amalfi for my main course which was meant to be grilled asparagus, roasted onions, toasted pine nuts, peas, garlic & lemon. Firstly, I saw no pine nuts or roasted onions, it was simply rice with peas and a couple of asparagus pieces, possibly just 1 spear, with grated lemon and parmasan cheese ontop. The grated lemon peel was terrible, like little sticks in your mouth, see photo, there's loads of it! Needless to say I left the majority of it. My partner ordered fresh halibut off the special menu which came with prawns, potatoes and vegetables. However, he also left the majority of it because the vegetables and potatoes were hard. He said the fish was ok and the sauce was just ok but he couldn't taste the truffle oil or taste the prawns. There was another item on the plate that he couldn't even say what it was. We obviously complained to the manager who listened to our observations and, regarding the food, explained that most of our opinions were how they cook the food in that part of Italy. The only person who worked her socks off, without any help, and continuously apologised, was the waitress Brogue. We felt really sorry for her. Finally, while we were waiting 3 tables (2 tables of 4 and one of 5) stood up and walked out as they'd had enough waiting. We were timing them and they had 3 minutes left before we also left. The place is buzzing, especially the bar and outside on the new balcony, but they just can't cope with the numbers, the place had doubled in size but it feels like they haven't doubled the waiting staff or kitchen staff. Sorry but i won't be going back. PS. I've taken a photo of the food when it arrived and also what went back into the kitchen. You'll notice hardly any was eaten.”

  “The venue has a lot of promise, especially since the renovation of the bar area, offering panoramic views across the countryside. For a drink, you can’t ask for much better. However, the service for food is abysmally slow, so much so by the end of our meal tables we’re talking to each other, even shouting across other tables, asking how long the wait had been and if it was worth it - shambles! To give detail, it took 30 minutes to be asked for a drinks order (20 minutes wait before we prompted, an additional ten before someone finally came over), and an extra 15 on top of that for our food order to be taken, for which we were abruptly asked “have you ordered food yet”? 🤣 The starters took another 30 minutes after ordering and they sent out wrong food! Our one correct starter had been finished before the second missing starter even arrived, despite being reassured by staff it’d be just two minutes until it arrived when we asked for the food to come back out together so both starters were still hot. The main course arrived 30 minutes later, and our drinks order, which taken immediately after finishing starters, had still not arrived by the time mains got there, again requiring our prompt in order to receive them. And, to add insult to injury, we ordered deserts not once, but twice, and ours arrived after two other tables received theirs, despite them both ordering before us. We only had dessert as we were on the set weekday menu, otherwise we would have left much sooner. Overall, the food was average, your bog standard local Italian, but the service was just so so bad. We would have rated the service 0 stars were it not for the young female waitress at the end apologising for the service. We did have a round of drinks knocked off, but honestly, we couldn’t tell you if that was due to the poor service or a mistake given how poor our experience was as the discount was never acknowledged. Either way, we came away truly disappointed.”

  “Great place - for both a romantic dinner for two or a bigger group for a celebration. Lovely views out on to the moorland. Nice beers - great pizza!! We’ve always booked a table in advance - though we sometimes make use of the take-out service as well.”

  “Went for Sunday roast, large party. Food was ok, food wasn’t massively warm. Neither was the hot drinks. Hot plates and hotter food would have improved things. Also not much veg at all, 1 piece of broccoli and 1 piece of carrot. They should do a large bowl or bowls of veg for the table. Presentation was nice and food tasted ok but just a bit of tidying up with the presentation”

  “Our favourite restaurant in Bolton. From our first date to married we always come here for their delicious food. Food here is always delicious especially the lobster linguine, lobster & steak 😋 and so much more! Really good price for the amazing food! Staffs are friendly! Definitely recommended!”
