About Panevino Italian Restaurant
Panevino Italian Restaurant serves Italian food in Chepstow from the Afon Gwy building at 28 Bridge St, on the banks of the River Wye. A covered terrace and garden with olive trees and string lights faces the river and the old iron bridge, so groups and couples can eat with the water in view. The kitchen cooks lasagne, and a salmon salad arrives with pomegranate, cucumber, tomatoes and onion. Vegetarian dishes include a veggie calzone, and these can be made vegan on request. The restaurant opens daily.

Customer Review Summary
The river view from the patio and covered terrace is what reviewers raise most, with diners describing olive trees, string lights and a view across the Wye to the old iron bridge. The food comes close behind. Two diners call the lasagne delicious, and others name the salmon salad with pomegranate, the bruschetta, the steak, the carbonara and a veggie calzone, with a note that veggie dishes can be made vegan. Several praise the portion sizes, and one says the starters are as big as a main course. A family with toddlers mentions the kids menu. Staff are described as friendly and attentive, and reviewers call the atmosphere lovely and welcoming. Complaints are few and specific. One diner found the large meatballs full of bread and lacking flavour, with a plain tomato sauce, while her lasagne was a highlight. Another regrets that the back patio is not dog friendly. At a birthday lunch with the place full inside and out and several large parties, one reviewer noted that every meal arrived hot and together.

“This was a first time visit recommended by my children who have been before. It did not disappoint, very friendly staff, our server, Tina went above and beyond. She was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She had a lovely sense of humour too and we had such a laugh with her. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely recommend to friends and we will be visiting again very soon”

“A Riverside Gem in Chepstow Panevino occupies a lovely spot in the historic Afon Gwy building on Bridge Street, right on the banks of the Wye, and it makes the most of it. We ate outside on the covered terrace — olive trees, string lights and a wonderful view across to the old white iron bridge. On a sunny evening it genuinely felt more like Italy than South Wales. The food matched the setting. I started with the bruschetta, generously topped with fresh tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, pesto and a balsamic glaze — simple, fresh and full of flavour. The steak that followed was cooked just as I'd asked and thoroughly enjoyable. What really stood out, though, was the staff — warm, attentive and clearly proud of the place. Friendly service without ever being intrusive. A charming setting, tasty food and great people. I'd happily return, and if you're visiting Chepstow it's well worth seeking out. Highly recommended.”

“Went here recently with family for lunch, firstly what a lovely setting, with a table overlooking the River Wye, then very friendly staff, and lastly the tastiest Italian food we have had out in a long time, so very happy to revisit and to recommend”

“We are visiting the area as tourists and were lucky to find this wonderful Italian restaurant. Two days ago we had the pizza& beer , and this evening we came back to celebrate our anniversary. We enjoyed the lasagna, carbonara, olives, a glass of wine, and a beer – everything was absolutely delicious and tasted just like authentic Italian cuisine. The restaurant is very cosy with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. We sat outside in the evening, and the beautiful riverside view from the garden made our anniversary even more special. Even though the restaurant is usually very busy, everything is well organised, the service is efficient, and everything arrives on time. It was also very easy to book a table. We had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Italian food. We will definitely come back the next time we visit the area. Thank you for making our anniversary so memorable!”

“We ate here as a family of four adults and two toddlers. Staff gave us a very warm welcome. There’s an extensive menu of traditional Italian dishes and a great kids menu. The food arrived promptly and was delicious with all plates cleared. Great food and excellent service at reasonable prices. Heartily recommend”
