About Lounge India Chelmsford
On Stock Rd in Chelmsford, Lounge India Chelmsford is an Indian restaurant where king prawns run through the menu. King Prawn Puri and a tandoori king prawn starter sit alongside prawn curry, which gives prawn eaters several ways to build a meal. Lamb gets its own place in the mains, with lamb curry and lamb biriani on offer. The menu also lists kebabs among the starters, so a table can open with grilled meats before moving on to curries and rice dishes.

Customer Review Summary
Prawn dishes lead the praise at Lounge India. One reviewer calls the King Prawn Puri starter worth returning for by itself, another strongly recommends the prawn curry, and a third ordered king prawn as a main alongside a tandoori king prawn starter. Close behind are the kebabs, including grilled chicken, lamb and sheesh meat, followed by the lamb curry, lamb biriani, chicken tikka dhansak and a garlic naan described as fluffy and soft. One parent says a fussy child loved the chicken tandoori. Staff are repeatedly called friendly, welcoming and attentive. One reviewer describes a server explaining unfamiliar dishes and giving recommendations, and another mentions welcome drinks and starters on arrival. The one caveat comes from a reviewer who found the food a bit mild in general and plans to ask for it spicy next time. Several are first-time visitors who say they will return, and one reports eating there about once a month or getting takeaway.

“First time coming to Lounge India and honestly couldn’t fault it. The food was absolutely amazing – everything tasted fresh, full of flavour, and you can really tell they use good quality ingredients. Every dish we ordered was spot on. The King Prawn Puri deserves a mention on its own. Genuinely, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever eaten from any restaurant. I don’t usually rave about starters, but this was unbelievable and worth coming back for by itself. Rummel looked after us all evening and was brilliant. He took the time to explain a few dishes we weren’t sure about and gave us some great recommendations. He was really friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Definitely one of the best Indian meals we’ve had in a long time. We’ll 100% be coming back again. Highly recommend!”

“I had the pleasure of coming here last night all the way from Hornchurch and the food was fantastic. The grilled chicken and lamb kebabs were cooked perfectly and had such great flavour. The prawn curry is a dish I would strongly recommend and the lamb curry was the best I had eaten. The staff were all very friendly and the service was efficient. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I will definitely be coming back.”

“So, I decided to try out this place with my family, and wasn’t disappointed at all. I man where do I start……. The customer service was superb. They were so welcoming, opening the door, seating us down, with welcome drinks and starters. With handing the menu’s and talking us trough it. The food was absolutely delicious…. We ordered king prawn, Daal, meat curry, as the mains, started we had grilled salmon, tandoori king prawn starter, sheesh meat kebabs, some plain rice and garlic naan….. which was so nice, flaffy, soft not too think. You could really taste the nice garlicy flavour. It was different compared to other restaurants. As for dessert just some vanilla ice-cream. Over all- not hyping this place up, but te food, my god was just chef’s kiss. I Would defo come to this place weekly if I lived local. The interior was really nice, how they set up the place! Will 100% come back, and definately recommend.”
