Quick info
About Jade Garden
Jade Garden is a Chinese restaurant in Chatham, found at 43 High St, where it has traded since it was founded in the 1970s. The kitchen works in three regional styles: Szechuanese, Pekinese and Cantonese. Diners can choose across all three from one restaurant rather than visiting separate ones. The cooking aims to keep each dish's textures distinct while balancing its flavours, with the oriental dishes prepared to that standard.

Customer Review Summary
Praise centers on the Cantonese chicken, called fantastic, with the Szechuan pork and special mixed rice close behind. Takeaway customers also single out the chicken with garlic and chili sauce, pan fried pork dumplings, salt and pepper special, and the chowmeins, rices and dishes in sauce. One diner who ate inside found the staff friendly and has returned for years. Other dishes drew complaints: the lemon chicken did not suit one reviewer, the crispy shredded beef tasted of nothing, and the salt and pepper chicken was called awful. The larger complaint concerns Uber Eats orders. Several describe deliveries arriving after very long waits, phone calls going unanswered despite repeated attempts, and staff who seemed indifferent or rude when reached. One was told to pay extra for delivery already charged in the app, then had the order cancelled for lack of a driver. Another received sweet and sour chicken balls without the sweet and sour sauce. Still, one diner describes a waitress asking the kitchen for Cantonese sauce to take home, and the kitchen supplied it.

“In our opinion the best in the area. Takeaway wise you go large on chowmeins and rices + dishes "in sauce" are the ones to go for 👌🏼”

“I’ve ordered take-away from here twice, although delivery time can be an hour or 2 it’s worth the wait. Both times I absolutely loved the food (only item I personally didn’t like was the lemon chicken, the chicken itself was tasty however I didn’t like the lemon flavour but that’s my personal opinion but my mum loved it). The chicken with garlic and chili sauce (could have been a bit spicier but again that’s my personal preference but it was lovely either way) , pan fried pork dumplings and salt and pepper special was the best tasting food from a Chinese takeaway I’ve had. Overall, I personally had a good experience with ordering from this restaurant. I may not have ate inside the restaurant and delivery time isn’t as quick as some people may prefer, but it is definitely better than some other places that you can order from. And just because there’s bad reviews doesn’t mean you will have the same experience. Every order is different, everyone’s taste is different. Every person is unique and has different preferences. But again me personally I loved the food both times i ordered from here (I ordered two times in a span of 2 days of eachother. And even ate the left overs the next day. That’s how much I loved the food!).”

“I rarely do this but this is the worst customer service experience I’ve had. Firstly, my food took more than an hour to arrive, I had placed the order through Uber eats but I guess it’s one of those restaurants that would send a driver rather than using uber drivers. I reached out to them over the phone and called to ask about the status of my order, however the guy who spoke to me was unempathetic and obviously just don’t care. He kept interrogating me; asking for my name , address , postcode etc. I was already frustrated when he got to Postcode and said to him that all of that info is already on uber eats , if he just checked since I’ve given him my name, order and address already (I was starving) and just wanted to know how much longer . He went ahead to say ‘You don’t want your order? Okay fine’ I asked him what he meant by that and he was threatening to cancel the order. What for? When I told him that was rude , he said that back to me and made mocking sounds. It was only when I to him I was recording the conversation and that I would send it to uber, did he keep quiet. I don’t know if he acted that way because I am a woman or if he had a bad day already but that’s not how you treat customers. 100% will not be coming back , neither would I recommend!”
