About Springsteens Diner

Springsteens Diner is an American-themed diner in Carrickfergus, at 5 Rodgers Quay, serving American dining from the morning onward. Breakfast runs until 3pm, which lets brunch orders such as the monster fry stay on the table well into the afternoon. For starters, the kitchen sends out Cajun mushrooms. Most mains come with a side, and bacon mac and cheese is one of the options. Ribs, chicken tenders and onion rings round out the menu for those after something heavier than a fry. Seating is in booths.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the generous American-style portions, with the firebird burger, the Cajun mushrooms starter, the ribs and the monster fry, served with runny eggs and nothing burnt, singled out by name. One reviewer calls the bacon mac and cheese creamy, and a mango, peach and strawberry daiquiri earns its own mention. Close behind is friendly, fast service from the staff, and several regulars describe coming back for over twenty years. Breakfast served until mid-afternoon and a fresh side salad also get a nod.

“Lovely atmosphere, great service and delicious food, what's not to like! Will definitely be back. Food reasonably priced.”

“Food wasnt what I was hoping for. It isnt what I would call healthy, I had food deep fried and dripping in oil which was not what I eat day to day..side salad had a huge helping of coleslaw, instead of just plain salad. I couldn't finish either. Just too heavy on the mayo and deed fried, was in a hurry so maybe I should have asked. Staff were friendly and helpful..”

“Normally i just go for brunch. The waiting staff are always polite and attentive. I've been using Springsteens for a few decades, as 20+years ago i used to frequent their other location on the Lisburn road. The booth setup works well for family's and solo diners alike. There is plenty of parking outside. Their monster fry never has any complaints with nothing burnt and always runny eggs.”

“Springsteens has always been a firm favourite restaurant for my family for over 20 years. However, on our last 2 visits, we have been left incredibly disappointed. The quality of the food has gone extremely downhill, and the menu costs have rocketed. Sauces seem very watery/salty compared to previous visits & what used to be chicken strips with the chilli chicken meal are now giant chicken tenders, and much smaller portions - the batter just falls of the chicken when cutting it. The bacon mac and cheese was always our go to side dish - however, this visit, it had completely changed. It was still mac and cheese, but the 'bacon' is now just tiny bacon flavoured crumbs over the top. A total let down from what it used to be. Overall, the food was horrible, but the our waitress was lovely and very friendly - cannot fault her service at all. The food quality and prices would now put me off going back.”

“The place itself is not bad, they have good seating and a decent selection of drinks, staff are friendly and accommodating. However if you intend to eat here then that’s a different story. The mushroom starter was quite nice, but the main was terrible. 6 different items on the main dish and every single one was arguably the worst version of it I’ve ever had. The mash was unseasoned and dry, tasted like it was literally just a boiled potato, mashed and served. Onion rings only had one flavour (oil), chicken wings were practically all bone, chicken tenders were excessively dry, ribs bland, and the coleslaw just tasted bad. I then proceeded to get an upset stomach which has carried on to the next day. Prices definitely don’t reflect the quality of food either.”
