About Rosa's Thai Cardiff

Rosa's Thai Cardiff is a Thai restaurant at 5 Church St in Cardiff, spread over two floors with a basement level that hosts private events for groups of up to 40 guests. The kitchen runs a grill, and the menu includes Waterfall Beef alongside Chicken Pad Thai and prawn panang curry. Chilli oils and sauces sit on the tables, so diners can adjust the spice level to their own taste. A lunch deal pairs an appetizer with a smaller main, a side and a drink. The restaurant seats walk-ins without a booking, and allergen information is available for diners.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the service and the food together, with the prawn panang curry and the Chicken Pad Thai named as standouts. Close behind are the prawn summer rolls and crispy spring rolls, and several describe generous portions, flavourful and spicy cooking, and chilli oils on the tables that let diners adjust the heat. The lunch deal with an appetizer, a smaller main, a side and a drink draws repeated praise as good value, along with a refreshing lemonade. Servers are often singled out as friendly and welcoming, including walk-in tables found quickly on a busy evening and a server who explained which sauces suited a gluten free diner. Criticism is sparser. One reviewer found the tables and floor sticky, the portions small and the lemonade too diluted, and another wanted the food a bit spicier. One visit also had the grill out of action, so the Waterfall Beef was not available. One diner who over-ordered to taste more of the menu had no regrets.

“Being a frequent visitor to Bangkok and Chiang Mai, no doubt it is proper thai food. Staff: alright. Ambience: alright. Cleanliness: the floor and the table are sticky. Chef, get good cleaning solution that your staff can use to wipe the table after diners are done. The layer of oil has accumulated over the years. Food portion: small. Lemonade is too diluted.”

“A fantastic experience at Rosa's Thai Cardiff. The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions – the Chicken Pad Thai is especially worth ordering! Despite it being a busy Thursday evening, we hadn't booked and the team managed to find us a table within five minutes without any fuss. The service was friendly, efficient and welcoming throughout. A special mention to Rhiannon, who looked after us brilliantly and was so pleasant. Great food, great service and a lovely atmosphere – I'll definitely be back!”

“I thought it was class. The two of us wanted to taste so much of the menu so we ended up over-ordering... but not regrets. It was all great. The drinks were decent but it was all about the food. Service was great and it was so quiet on a Saturday afternoon, we were the only customers. Really friendly lovely staff. Decor was cool.”

“Lovely place! Food was outstanding and the £15 mean deal is an insanely good price with a really refreshing lemonade as well. Hoi served us and he was so incredible and sweet and really made it chefs kiss! Would definitely recommend going with a friend to try all of the different small plates included. Amazing food and amazing service, thank you Hoi!”

“Went here with my boyfriend the other week and the food was amazing! I’ve gone here a couple of times already with my family and it never disappoints. I always see Hoi whenever I’m with my family and he’s so friendly 😊 Unfortunately the grill wasn’t working this visit so we weren’t able to try the Waterfall Beef, but we’ll definitely swing by another time to try it! Can’t wait to come again soon”
