Customer Review Summary
Sticky beef roti is the dish reviewers return to most, praised as soft and flaky with generous, well-seasoned filling. Close behind are the Thai fried chicken satay rice bowl, described as crisp outside and juicy inside with its peanut sauce, and the Pad Krapao, called homely and aromatic. The Thai basil chicken roti, waterfall salad and coconut ice cream also get mentions. Service is described as friendly, and the atmosphere as vibrant and cosy, though dimly lit. Several note how busy it gets, with one calling reservations a must, another having turned away before because of the crowds, and another finding parking hard for longer than an hour. The most detailed complaint comes from a family of six who booked online and saw no notice that children must leave by 9pm. They say staff reminded them of the time repeatedly, and takeaway boxes and the bill arrived before they had finished. Staff listened and apologised, but the reviewer felt the policy should be stated during booking. One diner who loved the sticky beef roti bought a second to take home, and staff packed the bread and filling in separate containers.

“One of Cardiff’s best restaurants without a doubt, rotis are delicious! Authentic street food and good prices, too.”

“UPDATE: (16th June 2026) We recently returned to Brother Thai, and once again the food was exceptional and the ambience was lovely. However, our latest visit was unfortunately overshadowed by how this evening was handled. We booked a table for six people through the restaurant’s website for 8.20 pm. At no stage during the booking process was there any notice or disclaimer stating that children are not permitted after 9 pm. As returning customers who had previously dined with our children and stayed beyond 9 pm, we had no reason to expect any issue. Only after arriving and placing our order were we informed that we would need to finish quickly and leave by 9pm because we had children with us. We ordered immediately, but the staff repeatedly reminded us about the time throughout the meal. What should have been an enjoyable family dinner, became quite rushed. We only needed a few extra minutes to finish, but takeaway boxes, bill and the card machines were brought to the table and it had become very rushed. After paying the bill, I raised my concern with the staff. To their credit, they listened and apologised. They said that customers with children are expected to mention this in the booking notes. However, I respectfully disagree that this responsibility should fall on customers. When a restaurant requires bookings to be made online, it is the restaurant’s responsibility to clearly communicate any important restrictions or policies during the booking process. Families should not be expected to guess that they need to add such information in the notes section when no guidance or warning is provided. Had there been a clear disclaimer on the website, we would simply have booked an earlier slot and avoided the situation altogether. The food itself remains outstanding and the ambience is still wonderful, which makes the experience even more disappointing. I hope this feedback encourages clearer communication for future customers so that other families do not find themselves in the same position. A YEAR AGO: We had an incredible dining experience at Brother Thai! The food was absolutely delicious - our chicken satay, red Thai curry rice bowls and sticky beef rotis were exceptional, packed with rick flavours. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, making for a great evening out. The service was phenomenal - friendly, attentive and efficient. Everything about our visit was beyond expectations, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended.”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I genuinely cannot say enough good things about *Brother Thai* — it has quickly become my absolute obsession. From the moment you walk in, the staff are incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely accommodating. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble, and they go out of their way to make sure you have the best possible experience every single time. And the food… WOW. Every dish is bursting with flavour, beautifully presented, and consistently exceptional. You can tell there’s real passion behind what they do — it’s fresh, authentic, and ridiculously moreish. I find myself thinking about it long after I’ve left (which is probably why I keep coming back… again and again!). Honestly, this place has ruined other takeaways/restaurants for me — nothing else quite compares anymore. If you’re even remotely considering trying *Brother Thai*, do it. Just be warned… you’ll be hooked like I am.”

“What a find! I'm told this was originally a street food (van) place, that did so well they opened it in a high street. Nice atmosphere, comfortable seating with very friendly and knowledgeable service. We felt that everyone who works here cares about what they’re doing, prices are also very sensible. The stand out part is the food, oh my goodness, the food! My favourite dish was the sticky beef roti, which was so good I was in raptures, just try it and you’ll understand. I enjoyed it so much I bought another one to take home. They were kind enough to out the bread and filling in separate containers. I can dampen the bread and bake it again, warm up the filling in a pan and combine, yum yum. Three thumbs up from me. :o)”

“First visit to Brother Thai and it absolutely delivered on flavour. We ordered the Pad Krapao Nuea and the Thai fried chicken satay rice bowl, followed by the sticky spicy beef and Thai basil chicken rotis. The Pad Krapao had that classic homely feel — tasty, aromatic and comforting. The fried chicken was crisp on the outside, juicy inside and worked perfectly with the peanut sauce. The rotis were soft and flaky, with generous, well-seasoned fillings. Service was prompt and friendly, with a check-in during the meal to make sure everything was okay — always appreciated. The restaurant has a cosy, dimly lit atmosphere which adds to the vibe, but don’t expect perfect social media lighting. Reservations are absolutely a must — the place was busy and it’s easy to see why. Great food, great experience, and we’ll definitely be back to work through more of the menu.”
