Quick info
About Gaucho Cardiff
At David's Dewi Sant in Cardiff, Gaucho Cardiff is a steak house built around Latin American beef sourced from Argentina and the Pampas. The menu sorts its steaks into classic cuts, speciality cuts and sharing steaks, with ribeye among the options, and each steak is paired with sides and sauces the diner chooses. Chimichurri comes with the steak. Empanadas serve as a starter, and set menus are available for diners who prefer a fixed order. A private dining room gives groups a separate space to eat together. Dogs are welcome.

Steak is the draw, with reviewers praising the ribeye and rump as cooked to perfection, including medium rare as ordered, and one calling the chimichurri a good match. Empanadas with chorizo or other fillings come close behind, and the mash and pan fried seabream also earn praise. Birthdays and anniversaries recur, with a free brownie on the plate for one celebrating diner and a surprise dessert for a solo diner. “Another excellent experience at Gaucho on my third visit! I visited on my birthday and was dining alone, but the team went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and valued. A special mention to Cam and the rest of the team for their outstanding hospitality. They kindly surprised me with a birthday dessert after finding out it was my special day, which was a genuinely thoughtful touch and made the experience even more memorable. As a chef, I have a real appreciation for quality food, and Gaucho consistently delivers. The food was fantastic, every bite was delicious, and the service was friendly, attentive and efficient from start to finish. It's the combination of excellent food and genuine hospitality that keeps me coming back. I'll certainly be visiting again and would highly recommend Gaucho to anyone looking for a great dining experience. Thank you for making my birthday so enjoyable!”

“First, the male waiter was nice, but the food experience was something else. The restaurant itself looked nice, with all the lighting and interior design. We both ordered £30 set menus, which may not be expensive in this country, I guess, but you could get much better quality food elsewhere for less. The shrimp from the appetizer was terrible, tasting like a cheap cream salad. For the main course, I think the picture says it all. It was quite disrespectful; the female waitress served it without mentioning the other side dishes coming after (which were just French fries and a tiny cup of chimichurri). We were shocked, we both ordered medium-rare rump, not two logs of **** on a plate (sorry for the language, but look at the picture, and if you think that was good steak, idk which world you're living in). The desserts weren't good either. A part-timer from another fast-food restaurant can do the garnishes and create a better food presentation than what we had. I don't want to be mean, but we chose this restaurant for our first dinner in Cardiff, and this is what we got. Just think about it, do you really want these impressions for your restaurant?”

“Went to try their Legacy III set menu and good selection choices The foods and services were amazing. Greeted by Hannah the hostess with a welcoming smile and she was very attentive ( great hospitality). I chosen the Prawn Chicharrón Sweet and spicy sauce, pickled red onion and jalapeño King Prawns & Lobster Cream Linguine Pavlova Marinated blackberries and blueberries with mascarpone cream Another great culinary experience Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu. The only downside is the spotlight lighting ( felt like I am under the spotlight) which i did asked to change my sitting area and the restaurant will definitely benefit with a softer lighting or background lighting. When you sitting at the seat with spotlight you will find out what I mean especially when taking pictures of the foods”

“This was my first time at Gaucho, and it was incredible, me and my boyfriend were there celebrating his birthday, he had the ribeye and I had the rump steak and they were cooked to perfection. For dessert I ordered the brownie and my boyfriend had ice cream, and when he popped to the bathroom, our server Cammie said she had a little something for him, for his birthday, and when he came back she brought out another chocolate brownie with Happy Birthday written on the plate, which was completely on the house, I was so happy, and super grateful, and my boyfriend was very surprised and super happy, I had no idea she was going to do that. I have to big up Cammie she was so smiley and welcoming, really lovely waitress, very prompt and friendly. 100% recommend, will definitely come back in the future. Thank you so much for a delicious meal, hands down the best steak I've ever had.”
