Customer Review Summary
Staff draw the most praise at Pavilion Bistro, described as friendly, attentive and welcoming, with nothing too much trouble for a group of ten or a baby shower. Reviewers also note the kitchen adapting dishes for special dietary requirements. On the plate, diners name the chicken roulade, grilled sirloin, starters such as pate with extra bruschetta and a crab starter, and a sticky toffee pudding with homemade custard. The afternoon tea earns praise for a warm scone and a good clotted cream and jam ratio. The terrace with shade umbrellas and the complimentary boules on the bowling green also come up. The complaints are specific. One Saturday evening diner found at least two starters and two mains sold out and the crispy kale greasy, and urges booking early. Another found half of a Sunday roast lukewarm, and one afternoon tea guest waited a while for a second pot of tea. At one table of ten, a waiter heard an uncle wish for a knickerbocker glory and soon brought one out.

“Beautiful place with beautiful surroundings but the Sunday roast was a huge letdown. Half the food was lukewarm and nothing tasted as good as it looked.”

“Loved this place, what a hidden gem! Food was lovely. Surprised at the bowling green but a lovely addition and we played, boules are complimentary to use. Lovely seating outside, with shade umbrellas, really couldn't fault it.”

“Very disappointed. Have always eaten well here in the past and as we wanted to celebrate, we were prepared to pay a bit more. However didn’t expect so many dishes to have sold out on a Saturday evening… at least two starters and two main courses which meant that neither of my first choices were available. The food we had was tasty although the crispy kale was rather greasy. On a positive note, the cocktails were good, and the staff friendly, helpful, and ready to adapt dishes for special dietary requirements. However, I have never encountered a restaurant of this size that has run out of so many things on a Saturday evening, even if everything is freshly made! Surely they must know how many covers are booked in for the day and plan accordingly? Book early to avoid disappointment!!”

“A great find (although actually a little difficult to find so use Google Maps!), and very near to the M66. The place has a great atmosphere. The staff were very warm and welcoming, and very attentive (particularly Adrian). The restaurant was very willing to make on-the-spot changes to the listed menu for one our party on a restricted diet. The ambiance of the place is smart casual, with a good buzz, great decor and low but not difficult lighting. Parking was good, right outside the premises. The menu was wide ranging, with an à la carte and a set-price-set-menu, and we ordered from both at our table. The price range very reasonable for the quality of food, and type of venue. The food itself was served in good time, but not rushed, very well presented (see my pictures) and extremely tasty. ♿️Access for less able people was very good. Good parking, all on one level, wide doors, clear space between tables and accessible toilets. We had a great night out, certainly plan to go again, and thoroughly recommend this delightful find.”
