About Olive Tree
Olive Tree is a restaurant on The Wharf in Bude, with canalside tables right next to Bude Canal. A daily specials board features monkfish scampi, served with a bistro salad, fries and garlic mayonnaise. Breakfast and brunch are served, and the sourdough dishes include wild mushrooms on sourdough. Truffle fries are also on the menu. Indoors, the restaurant has a conservatory and a bar area with tables. It opens daily, and walk-ins are taken without a booking, though tables can involve a wait when the room is busy. The kitchen works with local and Cornish produce.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the canalside setting and the lunch specials, with monkfish scampi named repeatedly, served with bistro salad, fries and garlic mayonnaise. Mussels and dressed crab also get praise from one table that called every dish exceptional. Close behind are the breakfasts, described as fresh and one reviewer's best ever, along with truffle fries, wild mushrooms on sourdough and prawns in garlic and chilli oil, which one reviewer warns is quite oily. Staff are called friendly and polite, and one reviewer notes the food suits celiacs. Walk-ins were seated at a bar table and in a group of twelve without a booking. The recurring caveat is pace. One lunchtime reviewer describes a delay before being seated and food taking over half an hour, calling it okay but nothing special, while another waited for an outdoor table. One reviewer calls the bill pricey for two lunches and two drinks but says the location and food justify it, and that a blue matcha made a great photo.

“Popped in on spec for lunch. They were busy but found us a cosy table in the bar. Service was friendly, prompt, and efficient. Drinks came quickly and food was generous and delicious. There was a good atmosphere but it was never too loud. We would definitely return.”

“Down in Bude for the week and decided to pop in for an impromptu lunch on a gorgeous sunny day. We were determined to sit outside to soak up the atmosphere so had to wait for a table to become available. It was just too nice to be sat indoors! Our patience was rewarded with a lovely canalside table with a stunning outlook. We were handed our menus and quickly chose our drinks. During our wait, we noticed the daily specials board and both decided to try the monkfish scampi. The golden parcels of sweet, firm fish were served in a shallow bowl accompanied by a fresh bistro salad, fries and garlic mayonnaise. It was a simple but tasty lunch set in a stunning location with great views. An enjoyable way to while away an hour or so. Will definitely return next time we're in town.”
