About Mamil Cafe Bar

Mamil Cafe Bar is a cycle-themed licensed cafe at 11 Owler Ings Rd in Brighouse, set beside the canal. Bicycle and cycling theming runs through both the bar and the restaurant area. Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the atmosphere, described as lively, relaxed and atmospheric, with a rustic cycling-themed interior and seating by the canal or the road. Food comes close behind: the Halloumi Mash, a sharing platter sized right for two, a cherry Bakewell, and pancakes with bacon that arrived as five rather than the expected three. One reviewer calls the coffee fabulous, and another praises the excellent beers. Staff are called friendly and helpful by several, and one host describes a party that ran smoothly. The service complaints are specific, though. One diner waited well past finishing their coffees for two breakfasts on a quiet morning, found items missing, and had plates slammed down without an apology. Another reports an iced latte in a child's cup that came back the same after a remake, an undercooked sausage in a breakfast wrap, and a condescending response from staff. A third found a pint of Pepsi Max excessive for the price. Dog owners single out the welcome, including a water station with treats for their dog.

“I hadn't called into Brighouse for a while, due to work, but met up with a friend this morning. I always loved the coffee and it is still fabulous...The helpful staff (Louise) suggested the Halloumi Mash and it was so tasty and plentiful. Clean, comfortable and atmospheric - great place. I'm going back ASAP!”

“Seating inside and outside by the canal or by the road. Bicycle and cycling themed bar and restaurant. I had a pint of Pepsi Max for £4.40, which I found excessive for syrup and water. Didn’t eat, but the saw plenty of people eating typical fatty pub grub. They had some cakes and brownies available at the bar.”

“Recommended by a friend. Plenty of seating. Was quiet when I went in for a breakfast at 9.30 on a Thursday. Ordered pancakes with syrup and bacon. Was expecting the usual 3 pancakes, not 5. Friendly, polite staff, nice atmosphere. Will visit again.”

“I’ve been to Mamil a number of times now and have always been impressed. A great selection of food, excellent beers and it’s very reasonably priced for the quality. There’s always a good atmosphere and it’s always busy which is definitely a good sign! The staff are great too.”
